I was really excited to try Ottimo as they’re joining an arena of exceptional and high quality pizzerias. They are, as some had told me, “fine”. Their price point is on the highest end for very lightly seasoned, decent pizza. The toppings were inconsistent (GIGANTIC pieces of tomato), to say the least, but you can tell it’s all quality.

Update : they actually removed our favorite pizza and the replacement is below par. We walked into this place after visiting the local Sunday farmers market across the street. The first thing you see is the beautiful red Italian oven. The tile was immediately to the right is gorgeous – really makes you feel like you’ve stumbled into an Italian hidden gem off the street. The man behind the counter was so friendly and welcoming. We didn’t even plan on ordering a pizza we just came in for a menu. While reading the menu we were taken back by how delicious the Kailua Pork pizza sounded. (They discontinued it for some reason – so disappointing). The next time we came back we were giving a pizza that was basically a Margarita pizza with sausage instead and it wasn’t as good. Sadly, with the Kalua Pork being taken off the menu, we probably won’t be eating here as much.

I have tried a lot of pizzas in Long Beach but this one really stood out as being extra delicious! The staff was also so nice and helpful. Plus the ambience was super fun and there is a giant parklet outside where you can hang out, and even bring your beer over from the nearby brewery. Next time I come back I need to try the dessert pizzas!

Aside from the nice pizza oven charred flavor in the bottom of the pie, everything else about the pizza was just ok. In a town full of artisan pizza joint, it’ll be hard for ottimo to stand out. We ordered the meat amore pizza, and expected quite a bit of exploding meaty flavor, but what we got was flavor that is more tamed and maybe suited for the sodium averted crowd.

Just tried Ottimo Pizzeria and their pizzas are delicious – We ordered the Kalua Pork – a pulled pork, bacon, pepperoni, crispy garlic pizza with housemade BBQ sauce – all high-quality flavors with perfect chewy crust/dough. The Ensalada Pizza was absolutely delish – opened the box and it smelled amazing! House made tomato sauce, melted mozarella, proscuttio, roasted tomatoes, arugula with perfect touch of balsamic glaze made it a favorite. We grabbed a couple beers at Steady Brew a few steps away, and had a nice time with family/friends under lights at picnic tables. Friendly staff, will text you or deliver to your table outside. Ate the first pizza so fast took photo of only half of it. Can’t wait to go back to try their other pizzas and dessert pizzas – one with Nutella and strawberries. Mmmmmm

Ordered the large margarita, sadly it was over baked and far too crispy. The dough had very little rise and no chew. The fact that there is no tomato sauce on the base also makes the pizza extra dry and whilst the basil and tomato pieces are pleasant, all in all it is a disappointing pizza.
