Papa Hughie’s Seafood World Menu – Lighthouse Point, FL

Type : Seafood restaurant

Location : Lighthouse Point, FL

In 1976 Joy and Hugh Ganter opened Seafood World in Lighthouse Point, Florida. After many years in the Bahamas, they had a clear idea of the kind of restaurant they wanted and that focus has never changed. They serve the freshest seafood in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, where recipes are simple and tasteful. Sauces and spices enhance, but don’t overpower the seafood. That was 1976. Today, Joy and Papa Hughie’s Zagat Rated restaurant, Seafood World still offers the same fresh seafood.

Strip-mall eatery & seafood market prepares carefully sourced catch in nautical digs dating to 1976. Based on 691 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.5 stars. Price $$

Very disappointed with the food. The cracked conch was over breaded and gave me a grease stomach. The soup has noodles and no sherry was available to put in my conch chowder. I have loved this restaurant since 1980. I missed the old dining rooms ambience. My husband’s chair kept getting hit by people. I miss the old menu. Very sad.

Thank you to Autumn who gave us exceptional service. Probably the best waitress we have encountered so far while being in Florida. The food was great too which made this experience a five star!

Brenna is absolutely amazing. Her service was excellent and one of the friendliest servers I’ve ever had. The food was good but she made the experience truly unforgettable. Highly recommend restaurant and go visit Brenna!

Very disappointed. Very overpriced for what you get. Went there with my fiance and his parents. They are from Maryland so they expected Maryland style crabs and they are so not that. The clam chowder was good and the french fries were good.

This restaurant also acts as a seafood wholesaler so the seafood is about as fresh as you can get. The sushi is great. The fish choices are always plentiful. I really can’t think of a better seafood restaurant locally than this one. The service is always efficient and friendly. And the drinks aren’t too expensive. There are plenty of wine choices but the star of the show is definitely the fresh seafood.

A great reminder of what fresh seafood tastes like, vs. getting something from the frozen section at the grocery store. It was my first time eating a stone crab, but as a crab fanatic, it didn’t live up to the hype. Big chunk of meat, but not much flavor and pretty expensive. The taste isn’t as different as an Alaskan king crab. But the clams were nice, and the shrimps were pretty big.

Great experience, it was my first time we’ll most certainly be returning. Great local beer and wine selection. And great prices for the generous portions of very fresh seafood. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. Ask for Mary B, shes very knowable and is a great server. Also pictures aren’t the best , we couldn’t wait to dig in. There will be better pictures to come in the future.

I need to come for dinner, but I have bought fish from them several times. The prices are high, but the quality is great. I will be back to buy fish again.
