We have something for everyone. The first Papa’s Pizza opened in Bassett VA in 1998, and in 2019, third generation owners Vincenzo and his wife expanded into beautiful Salem, VA. They continue to serve the traditional recipes created from the long family line of Italian chefs, and also new dishes with a modern twist on Italian cuisine.

Genovese
Genovese, the Neapolitan ragout The Genoese is a traditional recipe from Campania, very popular all over Italy. Although the name refers to the Ligurian city, this recipe doesn’t come from its territory. The Genoese is a ragout sauce perfect for pasta recipes: it’s a very special one, without tomato sauce but with lots of onions and meat. The onions take on flavour during the long cooking process and turn into a puree, giving the dish a sweet note. Typically, the Genovese ragù matches to a specific type of pasta: ziti.

The most amazing tasting Italian food. Stuffed pizza and my favorite is the Tuscan Pizza. Also had sandwiches and pasta dishes too….again, amazing. Nice family owned and operated. Lunch is a great time to go….many pizzas and special available by the slice and ready in just a minute or two. I can’t say enough.

The food was on point. The interior layout is the same as when Humble Pie was there. Wide enough for a wheelchair. Place yiur order at the counter, and they bring it hot to you. Sauces made in house (the alfredo is perfect) with fresh mozzarella used generously. Prices were reasonable. I love the floor layout as some of the tables almost feel like its in a nook.

Arguably the best Italian restaurant in Salem. Convenient location. Food is always hot and fresh. Staff are friendly. Never have any problems with the accuracy of my order. Recommend the buffalo chicken pizza, cheese steak sub, and calzone.

I thought I knew what good pizza and tiramisu were, but then I had Papa’s. This is far and away better than any pizza and Tiramisu I’ve had- better than in New York, Chicago, or even from when I was fortunate enough to visit Italy. It’s been a couple of days, but I can still remember how it tasted.

No indoor seating at this time due to staffing. He had 2 workers for taking orders they were super nice and brought out a bowl of water for our dog when they learned she was with. We ordered baked spaghetti and grandma’s pizza. (Be careful there are 2 on the menu one is a cold topping pizza) The crust and sauces were so amazing we ended up bringing the spaghetti home. Still had lots of leftover pie after feeding 2 adults.
