I was wanting something that was not typically something I would eat, and Papi Queso had a variety of grilled cheeses that piqued my interest. I ended up choosing the Pig Mac, which has pulled pork and mac & cheese. The sandwich was really good, and it had a unique flavor to it that I enjoyed. The person taking our order was super nice, and coming here was a pleasant experience all around.

I had a mommy baby date with my daughter here. I guess the owner was behind the bar. Such an awesome personality. The whole staff was amazing. And the food was so good for just being a sandwich shop. Really good grilled unique cheese sandwiches here. I was able to order ahead through Google ChowNow and my order was ready within 10 minutes. I tried the Pig Mac. It was hot and fresh and decadent. Definitely worth a try.

Located inside of Optimist Hall, serving different takes on grilled cheese. I put a note in my phone to try Papi Queso if I was in Charlotte, and I’m glad I did. I split the Pig Mac, Mushroom Gruyère, and Garlic Parmesan Tots with some friends. Everything was great, but the standout was the Mushroom Gruyère. I’m a mushroom lover and this blew my mind. Paired with the truffle sauce, I was on cloud 9. I’ll come back and try other sandwiches , but will struggle (and likely fail) not to get this one again.

Very friendly staff, and the owner was working too! Super cool guy. I had the Bacon Jalapeño with fries and an alcoholic Rosé slushie. It was quite a bit hotter (not spicy) than I expected, but still quite good.

Papi Queso is an exceptional place to get a sandwich. I’m not usually much for buying sandwiches that aren’t burgers, but these are special grilled cheeses. My mother eats a ton of grilled cheeses and loved the classic Little Cheesy. I ate the Pig Mac with pulled pork and macaroni and cheese. Fries were excellent. I just wish they had fountain drinks. Bottled sodas or water is not always what I want. Such drinks are usually overpriced. Service was very friendly. This is another great food stall at Optimist Hall.

I’ve been here a few times, both as a meat-eater and later as a vegetarian, and the meaty sandwiches are pretty good. The people at the counter are always beyond nice and the food service is super quick, no question it’s a great spot with its head on straight.
