A solid average local small town bar. In a way it reminds me of The Commons in Grand Rapids in decor. The fish sandwich was hot & crispy and the breaded/hot sauce wings were fine (on special that day for $0.75/ea). I’m thankful it’s close to my place, otherwise I’d be driving to Antler’s or to Big Rapids for even basic pub fare. I hope they’re around forever.

My little brother and I always go to pappys to play pool. I used to work here before the new owners and it’s a very “ homey “ bar not sure now with the 2023 owners but not much has changed.

This establishment has new owners. We waited 15 minutes to be waited on and then 1 hour to receive our food. We had 9 people in our group. 5 people were served and the balance of our group waited another 25 minutes before they got their food. When this was shared with the owner, she said they had a small grill. She gave the impression she was not interested in our constructive criticism and left our table to sit with another group of people without addressing our concerns. Will never return to this restaurant.

Pappy’s is located next to some of my favorite fishing spots in the area. It is a come-as-you-are laid back hole-in-the-wall-bar. It has good food and inexpensive drinks. It is a good place to catch a game or play pool. They also have karaoke on Thursday’s. If you are in the area and you need a cold beer stop on by and strike up a conversation with some home grown Michiganders.
