Parkview Inn is located on historic Route 66 and has been in operation since 1925. Parkview Inn is the oldest restaurant in Bloomington, Illinois. Who doesn’t love traveling on the Mother Road especially when you can stop at to eat at restaurants along the route. Parkview Inn is located near Miller Park and the zoo.

This place has grown on me. I have tried several things on the menu, but a couple stand out. Their fried chicken is wonderful. It does take a while because it’s cooked fresh. We tried the pizza Saturday night, and it was also delicious. The cheese was very flavorful. The sausage was also good. Haven’t tried their pies yet, but I look forward to it. All in all, a decent family restaurant reasonably priced food. The service was excellent, too, and I’m definitely going back.

It was very warm inside. We asked the waitress to turn the ceiling fans on and she did and it started to feel much better. A few minutes later they were off. When our waitress came back we asked her what happened and she explained that the manager said fans just push hot air around. There was a pregnant waitress clearly uncomfortable who was sweating, and it was disappointing that the manager either didn’t understand how fans worked, or didn’t want to spend a dollar or two on having the fans running to make the place more comfortable. Will not return during the summer again. We left to go somewhere else to finish off our night instead of sitting in the uncomfortable building.

Our visit started out a little rough after being told we could sit outside and no one came to acknowledge we were even there for a good 10 minutes. However when our waiter Garrett did come he apologized profusely and offered us a free appetizer which we gladly accepted. Everything was extraordinary from there on. The broasted chicken was excellent and my fruit cup was really nice. The best part was our very friendly waiter, Garrett. He was not in a hurry and visited with us for a nice amount of time. I highly suggest this place and try to get Garrett to wait on you!!

The hostess greeted me with a smile and cherrful attitude, which is a great way to start a meal ! I was seated immediately and my waitress took my order before my seat was warm. The food arrived sooner than I expected. It was hot and delicious. My server brought me a drink refill before I could ask for one, and provided me with a drink to go. The venue was super clean and has a wonderful view of Miller Park through huge windows. It just doesn’t get any better than this!

This place was just great! Stopped by for a quick bite before getting on the road and they didn’t disappoint! Had the single burger loaded with onion rings. Everything was fast, fresh and perfectly cooked and tasty!! Do not miss this place!
