Payen’s is our favorite place for Asado and Chili Verde both are hot and flavorful! the meat is always tender and well trimmed, no fatty or tough pieces. the place is out of the way unless you’re out in far West Odessa but their food is definitely worth the trip.

I called to ask if they sold chicken tamales because it was difficult to find chicken only being that I am from out of town and everyone seems to only make pork which I can’t eat, pregnant and feeling sick not wanting to cook because of my nausea. They did not, I was fine OK. Then I got a call back right away from this place and this woman said they did have them but they were frozen, she could have a couple dozen for me in an hour. I explained I was pregnant and only wanted a handful and I was new in town she basically said it wasn’t in her interest to cook them and was sort of rude when she hung up. This is Bs. She also could of sold them to me frozen.
