Taste Somethin’
This place sucks… for the area that it’s located in, it’s very disappointing. I hate to bash someone’s dream of having a restaurant but this ain’t it baby. First off the rib menu is Al a carte, no one item on your menu is good enough to stand on its own. I don’t think there are enough characters for me to really get into how displeased I am. The ribs were warm. The Brussels sprouts have a nice flavor but they are swimming in oil. The mashed potatoes, again the flavor is there, but the portion I was served had a “been sitting a while” crust. The mac and cheese, oh my gosh, THE MAC & CHEESE made me so mad, the complete audacity for it to even be called mac and cheese is beyond appalling. The mac and cheese is disgusting, again it tasted as though it had been sitting, the noodles had a slight, “take me out of my misery” dried out flare to them. The sauce or rue, on the mac and cheese taste like someone completely skipped over the cheese part. The place was a ghost town when I walked in, which is always a red flag. I wanted to put off writing this cause I really have nothing nice to say but something NEEDS to be said. I didn’t specify if my order was for there or to go, so the girl at the counter bagged it to go anyways, HOWEVER not including silverware in a to go order is crazy… there was no one else in there. I wasn’t rushing you guys. You, in a sense, took it upon yourself to bag my order, not making sure I had everything, when the restaurant was deserted is mind blowing. I can’t really speak for the other bar side, which by the way, who knew it was a 2 in 1 situation. I thought the BBQ portion was a stand alone, separate establishment. Anywhoooos, appearance wise, it’s smoke and mirrors. It looks good but the taste is mid. I can’t speak on the bar so maybe they are better for drinks but as for food goes, it’s a hard no. I wouldn’t double back or even recommend it to someone else.

This was our 1st time there, and I’d be okay if we never went back. It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t great either. When we sat down, the table had food crumbs on it and was sticky. We got Mozzarella sticks. Standard bar Mozzarella sticks, except the marinara was really runny. We got the fish and chips. The chips were great. They were hand cut. The fish had a hair on it, and the tartar sauce was funky. They remade the fish. It was good, but it would have been better with some good tartar sauce. The coleslaw didn’t have much flavor and needed some moisture.

Just misses the mark. Wings mere so-so, tried honey , jerk-blah, and habanero mango. (.50 cents to try an extra sauce. House salad super super tiny. Way too loud, tonight was definitely a college bar scene. I love sports bars, but just don’t feel “it”. Atmosphere is missing something. ..Wall color?? Just something. The redeeming thing was my husbands rice and beans w/chicken- .staff was very nice.

Good food. Service was okay; our waiter seemed to be in training and didn’t really know much about the food but this is a newly opened restaurant so that was fine. We’ll visit again.

We wanted to check the new restaurant out. My wife and two kids were with me. We ordered the fried pickles. They were very good. When we ordered the waitress did not know if there was a kids menu at all and we were not offered one. I ordered the chicken breast buffalo style and it basically had Frank’s red hot on it and it was a dollar more. I thought it would be a little bit better than that or something else on top of that as well. My side house salad did not come with a dressing and was never offered one. I had to ask. My wife ordered the balsamic chicken sandwich. It came out with the bread pretty hard and stale. My sons chicken strips that he ordered were very very dry to the point where there was almost no chicken in half of them. Way over cooked and not good. I tried to peel as much off as I could so he could eat it but he didn’t really care for them at all. The “fries” were basically cooked the same way. The waitress didn’t come around for the first 10 minutes after we got our food so had nobody to let know. Our drinks also sat empty until we had to ask again. I was very very disappointed in our visit and I’m not sure that I will return. To top it off they charge an extra 4% for credit cards. It should be built into the business in not charged extra on top. That was very tacky. The owners seem to be stepping over dollars to pick up Pennie’s with the extra charges for dressing and 4% processing fee.

I’m an fgcu student living at UV and was looking forward to enjoy happy hour with my friend and was unfairly denied service. Bartender was a young lady who took my ID no problem and went to ask the manager about my friends ID. She said she didn’t believe the ID was really her (not whether it was real or not) and we proceeded to show her a passport photo with the same address, name, and birth date as the ID and the bartender went to the manager again and came back out to say she has the right deny anyone service. Being incompetent is not a valid reason to deny service. Manager should’ve gotten off their lazy booty cheeks and spoke to us directly as we were calm and willing to validate the truth.

I dined here on a Friday night, and I truly enjoyed my experience. My server, Danny, was extremely attentive and friendly. I had the Grouper Reuben, as per Danny’s recommendation, and it was delicious. My friend had the Smash Burger which was great as well. I will return!

Be warned! This location is inside the same restaurant as Off The Bone BBQ. It’s an odd set up. But they somehow share the same space. Our server was great. We were there on a Friday afternoon. The fish fry is the special. It was good. We’ve eaten at an Off The Bone before in Naples. It’s good too. Didn’t have any BBQ at this location yet.

My wife and I visited the University Village location during our weekend trip to Naples, and it was the first time we visited this location. We met Jamie, who was overseeing the operation of the restaurant and bar. She is a very pleasant person and we enjoyed a nice conversation with her. This, I believe, is the newest of the Pelican Larry restaurants, and it’s a bit tricky to find in the plaza of shops and eateries. We ended up walking around the perimeter until my son texted me an aerial photo of where we were in relation to the restaurant. It’s a large, open restaurant where you won’t find yourself right up against other guests since the tables are spaced nicely. There were people of all ages there and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. I did not eat anything other than a pound of steamed clams (about 20) which were great, but only lasted about a minute and a half once they were placed in front of me. We will go back on our next trip because my daughter-in-law tends bar there some Sundays and has worked for the owner of the bar/restaurants for years.

We visited a couple of weeks ago. We’ve been to the one in Naples and loved it, so we were excited to have one 5 mins from us. Unfortunately, flies were everywhere. We visited on a Friday night & thought it was strange that it was dead in there. I just can’t get past the fly situation… completely gross.
