A truly wonderful place to go for breakfast and coffee. The penny oven is pretty interesting. It is like a brick oven, but covered in real penny’s. The pastry selection was amazing and all the dishes we tried were delicious. My daughter and son-in-law actually moved to this neighborhood in large part due to this place, since they used it as a base while they were looking for apartments when they moved from Chicago last year. So glad I got to visit!

My wife and I found Penny Oven last weekend for brunch. As a food photographer I really want it to look as good as it tastes and they delivered on both. The mocha was so good I had two, the breakfast burrito and cauliflower hash delicious! We’ll be back.

Penny oven is awesome! Fast, great quality, and good variety. It has communal tables inside. You pay the cash register and they will bring the food to your table. They have a small kids play area filled with toys to keep the toddlers busy while the parents can chill calmly before the food comes.

Terrible customer service, specially the cashier (blonde with a bob) on weekends. We were visiting from out of state and wanted to grab a quick breakfast before we head out to the airport. We ordered house coffee & a tuna toast to go. The cashier literally waited 30 min, until all the orders before and WAY after ours were made, and the cooks went on their breaks, to make the toast which took ONE MINUTE. I was standing there waiting and watching everyone get their orders except us. This was all because my baby had broken a jar of jam that we were going to buy. We apologized repeatedly and gladly offered to pay for it. The cashier reassured us it was fine, and it ‘happens all the time’, but charged us without telling us. Then kept us waiting for 30min for a tuna toast. Disgusting.

Cute local spot with a rustic oven . I guess they use this for all of their cooking as all of our dishes came out in cute casserole type dishes. Cheery spot that also sells a lot of fun knick knacks and bottled beverages on top of their offerings. Food was overall good. The shakshuka and cauliflower hash were both very yummy. However we were not a fan of the “Dutch baby” Dutch oven pancake which is basically a baked pancake. This is probably just the type of dish it is and probably fine for what it is but it’s gooey and raw and it wasn’t for me.

Ok so my kiddo wanted to try this place.Yes we are foodies,and we eat everywhere. What I didn’t like is that you walk to the door and nobody acknowledges you, there is no sign or atleast say hi and have a seat. We basically stood there like lost puppies. So we decided to seat on our own, my kiddo had to go and get the menu’s because like I said its a guessing game. Dont take me wrong the people are nice except unless you talk to them they talk to you. Last thing it needs to be a little cleaner,I love the set up but it needs to be more inviting, the theme is healthy right? Add some more plants.
