What a hidden gem! We had lunch in their beautiful outdoor dining area. My husband had the Farmers scramble and I had the whitefish melt. Talk about flavor and seasoning! Every bite was bursting with flavor and the chef’s use of seasoning is spot on. While waiting for our food we toured the little provisions store, too fun. Coincidentally we had dinner the same day as another restaurant we had plans to eat at was closed for repairs. We didn’t have a reservation and the staff totally understood our predicament and got us a table before the kitchen closed at 9. Being so accommodating made our entire experience fun for our little group. We’ll be back for sure 🙂

I love Pennyroyal. It takes me back to Europe with the croissants, bread and pastries. It isn’t an American truck stop place so if that’s what you’re looking for, you’ll want to find a different option. Breakfast is the perfect size and be sure to add on potatoes with the sandwiches. If the weather is nice, opt to sit in the patio area. I’ve never had dinner here, but I’m sure it’s delicious, too!

Comfortable and rustic atmosphere. Visiting in the spring brings the smell of lilac in the air. Food was good and the host was hilarious. Minor complaint is the single bathroom servicing the entire place, which means it is always occupied

Stunned. Absolutely stunned, by the incredibly rude attitude of the “chef”/manager/owner, whoever this awful woman was. After parking in a pot-hole filled muddy unpaved lot, we were seated at a table blinded by the sun. When we asked to move, the chef told her staff to tell us to wait until the sun went down. Sorry, but screw you lady. I asked to speak to a manager twice, and no one showed up. The chef, who didnt identify herself, came to the host stand and rudely said to me, “would you like to dine with us, or would you like to cancel”. She then repeated this short and rude directive with condescension. She seems to think her roadside hut is the French Laundry, and she can dismiss customers with an attitude. She really needs a manager on staff who knows how to interact with the public. Our waitress was very kind, and the food was decent. But I wont spend another cent at this woman’s business. Oh, and there were dirty water bottles, flies, bugs and spider webs on all the dirty window ledges. Pics attached.

Top notch brunch experience. Bloody Marys were great. Our Server Soutine was fantastic. It was busy but there was still a relaxed atmosphere inside. The Blueberry Pancake was the best pancake I’ve had in recent memory, the BLT was packed with flavor unlike any other BLT I’ve had. The Sausage egg and cheese sandwich was STACKED and cooked perfectly. Outside is beautiful and there is a nice little store. I would love to visit again.

Thoroughly enjoyed breakfast. The eggs were cooked perfectly! And the johnny cakes were delicious! Came back a second and third time for dinner. Cocktails were amazing. Had the sweet pea quiche—amazing. But everything on the menu is. And the menu changes depending on what is in season.

Very slow kitchen. We ordered 2 salads and 1 hot meal. The salads were made right away and the dressing wilting some of the lettuce, the hot meal was warm at best. Took about an hour between ordering and serving. I think our food sat for a while, maybe they forgot us. The wait staff was friendly but hurried. The prices are steep; it was good, but not worth that price for warm pasta, wilt lettuce, and a very long wait. Not sure we will go back.

The food was spectacular. I had to pour over coffee and it was great. I cannot say enough about the bacon. It is smokey heaven. All around a great place to eat. As noted by other reviewers there were a lot of empty tables even with a 30 minute wait. At least 1/3 of the outdoor seating was empty at any given moment. I don’t pretend to work in the restaurant business so maybe this is common in a busy place. Regardless, it was worth the wait. I do recommend outdoor sitting. The cool fall air was perfect.
