Locals nearly rioted when this pizza speakeasy shut down a few years ago, and then greeted its reopening like the Rapture. Penny’s keeps strange hours, so you’ll have to show up Thursday through Sunday for its thin, crisp pies with perfect, pocked and cornmeal-dusted crusts. And don’t expect anything fancy; this is just a couple kids and the ovens, delicious sweet-tart red sauce, and a white version with rich, creamy ricotta tucked beneath good mozzarella and sprinkled with salty, tasty sautèed garlic. Like all good speakeasies, you enter through a back door hidden from the street. Unlike most speakeasies, Penny’s has a sign. Originally established in 1970 and reopened in 2009.

AMAZING!! Been meaning to stop in and always forget as they are only open 4 days a week. Remembered today and took a nice drive from Phoenixville to order their “Red Top”. DELICIOUS!! Didn’t even leave the parking lot before downing 3 slices! The sauce has the slightest touch of sweetness (not overdone like other places) and it very good. The cornmeal crust is super light & has great crunch. After the 3 slices, I didn’t even feel like I ate any, it’s that light of a pizza. With so few doing Red Top pies, I’ll definitely be back (oh and don’t worry, they can do cheese on top of you are not a fan of sauce on top). If your in the Royersford/Upper Providence area on the weekend, stop in and grab a pie.

If you have low quality taste buds, this is the pizza for you. The cheese is weird idk, same with the sauce and the crust.(aka the whole pizza.) The Stromboli had American cheese, maybe that’s not normal and it’s all they had but that’s what I got. If you are used to and like a normal Italian pizza this is not for you heard a lot of good things about this place but it’s not for me. Therefore I will not leave a bad review different people different opinions my opinion it’s not for me. (And very expensive) but honestly might be the worst pizza I have ever had my whole family couldn’t eat it and we spent like 100+ bucks because we heard good things about the place. (We never actually finished it and had to throw a lot of it away cuz no one wanted to eat it. I suggest getting a single pizza and if you don’t like it don’t try anything else cuz you ain’t going to like it.

I got this pizza probably about a month ago and I’ve thought about it every day since. The crust is thin and crispy, the sauce is delicious, not to mention that the staff is very friendly and works fast. I was in and out with a fresh baked pizza in 15 mins. I just wish yall offered slices because it’s just me and my cats, but that’s just a suggestion.
