Pete’s Mexican Food ~ don’t underestimate the quaint exterior and unassuming interior. What you will find is a great menu, tasty food, nice portions, and a friendly, hardworking, family-run business. It is a great place that is just far enough from Main St that you can avoid the hustle and bustle, yet close enough to jump right back into it when you’re done eating!

My favorite type of restaurant…A hole in the wall with great food and excellent service! I had my usual ground beef taco and cheese enchilada with red sauce combo, served with rice and refried beans. The cheese enchilada was exceptionally yummy and the beef taco was good. I think I expected the meat to taste like Ortega taco mix that you get in the grocery store, so I don’t know if a girl from Florida should be judging true Mexican tacos. I’m just used to the grocery store and Taco Bell. But the taco was very good!

DELICIOUS! We stayed in Huntington for a few days and Pete’s was about 2 blocks from where we were staying and this was the first and last restaurant we went to. Unfortunately I was only able to get the one photo since I just wanted to devour their food.

I had the super deluxe burrito. Excellent, with lots of chicken. I had to take some home. My wife had a tostada, which was also excellent, and we took a lot of that home too. The big guy behind the counter was very friendly and efficient. I appreciated the pictures of Pancho Villa and Pope John Paul II.

Happened upon this place by chance when heading down to San Diego. Incredibly friendly owners willing to bend over backward for us. Authentic Mexican Food made fresh, filling, reasonably priced, and tasty. Suggest stopping in if you’re passing through Huntington Beach or a local!

This hidden gem has some of the best Mexican food in all of OC but definitely one of the best (if not the best) in HB! Everything I’ve had here has been perfect and I have zero complaints. The staff is also incredibly kind. The space is small so it’s definitely the perfect to-go place but when the weather is nice and tables are available, sitting outside is nice if you want to dine-in. I would recommend the enchiladas!

love this place. i come here every time i’m in hb. note that there’s no fish or shrimp tacos, sad. shockingly affordable for the area. just two blocks from the pier with free parking nearby. love everything about it.

Fantastic tacos (had the shredded chicken and shredded beef). The shredded beef taco was the winner. Also had one shredded chicken and one shredded beef taquito, with guacamole which were good. The chips and home made salsa were delicious. The service by CJ and Pablo were wonderful. Loved it with the Mexican coke and the hot sauce. The side of fried jalepenos was a nice touch!
