This place has the best phillies for miles. I have no idea why they trust me to make my own decisions cheese wise though. I had been getting pepper jack which was amazing. But i happened to try the white american and when did i think saw the face of god, and he is a sandwich.

We were happy to see this place still existed. It’s been decades! I knew the original owners, so I stopped in to see if they were still there, but there were different owners. Wonderful service, but our cheesesteaks were very dry. We ordered takeout, and when I got home and opened my Styrofoam container, I thought they forgot to add the cheese. There were a few fried onion pieces, and within the steak pieces, I saw white. Turned out to be the cheese. I compare it to a piece of white string cheese when you bite into it. Back in the day, the cheesesteak was made with that soft, Velveeta-like, yummy, cheese. The steak pieces were covered in cheese, but not drippy. The bread is still good. It was soft and not tough. We also ordered 3 servings of fries and were missing one. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t something we’d go back for.

So. This was my first Philly in California. However I rated it a 3 instead of a 4 because of the price for what I received. It shows it’s a lot of meat but it covers the peppers and cheese. Also I paid for EXTRA cheese and I’m upset about my missing cheese. The flavors were there so it has potential. I think I picked a bad time to order because it was an hour before closing. I’ll try it again but not in the near future.
