During my visit to Pho King in Oakland, I ordered the Bun Bo Hue, Spring Rolls, and Egg Rolls. The Bun Bo Hue consisted of Hot & Spicy Soup with Beef, Pork Blood, Pork Cake, and Vermicelli. Overall, the food tasted okay.

It was my first experience at this location. The environment made us feel comfortable. However, there were smokers nearby and I kept smelling the smoke which was annoying. We sat outside and were greeted promptly. Me and my friend both ordered the Bun Bo Hue (spicy noodle soup +). We had trouble communicating with the waiter. I requested no blood cubes in my soup but I got it anyway. I asked for my bean sprouts to be blanched but they were not….. Nonetheless the staff was friendly. I was disappointed with my order. My noodles were these thick slippery rice noodles instead of the usual vermicelli. The meat and the taste was just alright. I do want to come back and try other items on the menu, but I won’t be ordering this Bun Bo Hue again.

Found this place on the way to Berkeley to drop off my daughter. The price is cheaper compared to Irvine, and the portion is very generous. But the flavor is average.

This place hit the spot and fulfilled a need to eat something quick before heading out to a venue. The food arrived very quickly which was a good thing. But it definitely had the taste and feel of something that was prepared way, way, way, way, way in advance. Am I dancing in the streets as a result? No – but it was just okay.

Food is terrible. Not sure what is going on with the kitchen. We came here all the times. Today the soup has no flavor, taste like power soup base. The appetizers has peanut and menu doesn’t alert the customers. We also ordered a chicken vermicelli, chicken is so dry. We didn’t eat at all. My friend didn’t want me bring it up to the owner, we paid and left the restaurant. I returned back and let them know right away.

I stay coming here for their Bun Bo Hue. Their pho is okay, but the BBH is what they’re known for. I used to go to their location on E.14 before they moved, and the quality remained consistent (the one that reopened on E.14 just isn’t the same anymore). Pricing is very good considering how every other pho restaurants run you $18-$20 a bowl nowadays, but Pho King seems to average $13-$15. Portioning is just right. I usually get the large option for a dollar more because that just seems to be the smarter choice. Rice plates on the other hand, seem to be on the smaller size, so I wouldn’t recommend that, but they have it as an option for those who really crave it. I like their three bean dessert drink a lot and it’s a very good pairing while eating some spicy BBH. I’m a repeat customer and I won’t be stopping any time soon.

Food… Very good. We tried many dishes and they are all good or very good. Except perhaps the Cha giò.

Never a disappointment…always great phò every time. Soup base is not oily or salty. Worth the drive if your craving for authentic phò! Lots of seating, outdoor and indoor dining.
