Just because it’s the best restaurant in the area does not mean it deserves 5 Stars. The meal was average and lack luster. To start the bread was cold. I highly recommend investing in better, warm bread. Maybe put some fresh garlic and/olives in the oil like other nice restaurants. Cold bread and plain olive oil is a bad start. The NY Strip steak was seasoned and cooked well. The actual cut of meat is cheap though; fatty and has lots of tendons which was very disappointing when spend $40 on a steak. Definitely not steak house quality. My mash potatoes were cold and my asparagus was cold and floppy. The $17 steak burger was good enough. The best part of the night was the alcoholic drinks. $140 for a meal that normally cost half that. ️

Absolutely amazing Italian food! Both meals, apps and wine was perfect. Couldn’t have asked for better. I got the chicken piccata and my husband the veal parm. Most exciting leftovers for later.

This is one of my favorite resturaunt for the food, it is fantastic food. I tell everyone I can about this place, because the food is great. However, I know the place isnt known for its ambiance, even though I have seen improvement over when it was Monte Bianco, but i feel like a little more effort can be put into making this place a little more inviting. But my only real complaint is the temperature. Walking in, when we have reservations, to a resturaunt that is in the 50’s, is just too much, and its happened more than once. I’d rather pay a few more bucks per meal if I wasn’t freezing. Also the music could be better, having Alan Jackson blaring from the corner room isnt great. I mean maybe some decent ceiling speakers with softer italian music or something relaxing? Maybe some table clothes to have a little better appeal? These are just suggestions from someone who would

Made my food wrong 3 different times before just accepting it because I was starving. Brought my partners food out 5 minutes before mine, which was also wrong. Took over 10 minutes for them to find a highchair which had old food stuck to it. Drinks were served directly out of the plastic containers you buy at the grocery store. I was offered a glass cup then had to remind the waitress 3 more times to bring it. Waitress put scalding hot pasta sauce in front of my baby who burned his hand. They dont serve alcohol and dont even have angel hair pasta either. The only booth they have in the whole restaurant was occupied by a child doing homework. So I hope you like sitting in hard chairs at tiny tables. This was a Friday night date night

This is the real deal. Piccolo Pomodoro’s has brought Italian fine dining to Thompson, Connecticut for a very reasonable price! My husband and I started with a fried calamari that came with a delicious dipping sauce. I had one of their several salad options that was a mixed greens with sliced pears, cucumbers, tomatoes in a lemon vinaigrette. I had a generous portion of veal parmigiana with homemade fettuccine that was enough for two meals and my husband was extremely pleased with his choice of the scalloppini de vitello al la saltimbocca with mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. Although we were both stuffed, we couldn’t resist finishing off the meal with the chocolate soufflé that was accompanied with a dollop of vanilla ice cream garnished with a mint leaf. The server was as spectacular as the meal. We look forward to making this a regular dining experience.
