UPDATE- Meal #2. Had a much better experience today. Got their pork chop special and it was very good.

I stopped by here around 3pm and it wasn’t busy. There is a sign that says please wait to be seated but I was told to go and sit down wherever by the lady at the front. A few minutes later a young girl approached and started to ask what I wanted to drink but a different lady told her that she would be doing my table and then she promptly walked away. So I had to wait a few more minutes for “my” waitress to return instead of having the girl who obviously had time to help.

We love The Pines, our go to place for comfort food in a calm old school dinners environment. Servers are always great and we haven’t had a bad dish yet, always hot, seasoned great and if we ask for a little tweak they always accommodate our request. The strawberry pie is absolutely delicious. You can’t beat the quality and price.

The fresh fried squash was the best I have ever had. I had the senior shrimp Platter and it was plenty for the price. Our server was very attentive. Would be 5 stars but it is need of a good cleaning and getting rid of the clutter, and room divider, open it up and bring in a little more of the mountains.

Food was very good. We bought a whole butterscotch pie to take home with us. We were very disappointed. The pie did not taste good and the texture was like a sweet potato pie.

Think Cracker Barrel but smaller and with less flavor…portions were generous and high quality food just minimal to no seasoning. I would advise my fellow “urban” folks this might not be the spot for u tho I will be back to try the fish sandwich and hopefully update this rating

Me and my family love to eat breakfast here whenever we visit Sparta. It’s just good old country food! The biscuits and gravy are exceptional. I highly recommend it!!!

We felt a very racist vibe as soon as we arrived. We tried to overlook it but it didn’t get any better throughout the visit. Nothing was said out the way just a vibe however it took almost an hour to get our food. It was very bland. No flavoring or seasoning added to it. This seems like a place to go if you don’t like your food seasoned and if you are of the Caucasian race.
