What an absolutely beautiful place!! Going to Pirouette is a uniquely delightful experience – from the moment you step in, you feel the warmth of owners Philippe & Jackie and will be treated to great service, wine knowledge you didn’t even know you wanted, and delicious pairings from the kitchen. Easy to stop by the wine shop and grab a bottle to go, but I’ll be on their patio as many warm days as I can. New neighborhood favorite, thank you!

It’s hard to find a family run restaurant that has food and service this good! It’s our favorite place with a seasonal menu and UNBELIEVABLE wine selection at reasonable prices. Philippe always helps us pick something unique and has never lead us wrong. You are missing out if you haven’t tried this place!

Pirouette Cafe & Wine Shop is such a delightful place. Conveniently located between VA Square and Balston Metro stops and plenty of street parking nearby. It is also just a short walk from Westover or Clarendon. The wine options are well suited for the casual curious and the well versed. The food is excellent and well portioned. The service is casual, friendly, and on point with recommendations. On my most recent visit, I had the fusilli Italian sausage paired with a nice Italian salchetto vino nobile and also tried the miso caramel roasted eggplant paired with a glass of domain bourgogne blanc chardonnay. Afterward, I had the opportunity to do a wine tasting of wines from France and Spain. Took home a few bottles and am certainly looking forward to another visit soon.

The wine and atmosphere here is outstanding! The owners, Jackie and Philippe, are extremely knowledgeable on all of the wine on the menu and just glow when passionately describing each one you ask about. What a great experience. My husband and I will certainly be here again to taste the full menu when it comes out!

The food here is the best in the DMV – I said what I said. Their menu is seasonal and they truly think through their menu and ingredients. The food is fresh, the flavors meld, and the portion sizes are perfect.

Enjoyed a nice, relaxing dinner on the patio with our group. The duck with artichokes was fantastic, as was the special pasta with mushrooms that my wife had. Appreciate the ability to purchase quality wine bottles from the shop at reasonable prices to go with dinner.

Every dish we had was light and flavorful and FUN. It’s rare to get dishes in this area that are complex and light, and they are a welcome addition to our list of restaurants we will be frequenting. The duck was the absolute highlight, but do NOT skip dessert!

Delightful addition to Virginia Square/Ballston neighborhood serving high class French inspired small plates alongside approachably priced wines.

A lovely family-owned business serving great wine, food, and atmosphere. I love the selection of wine at the weekly tastings. A real treat for this neighborhood!

If I could give this restaurant, zero stars I would. The owners and overall weight stuff are some of the rudest group of people I have ever met. The best people in the building are the young kids that help out around the restaurant. It is such a great concept, but what a shame, when wrong type of people believe they can open a hospitality based business. I have been in the hospitality, food bar and restaurant business for over 25 years and it is just not for some people. You can even tell on the reviews when people give constructive criticism the owners respond very defensive. The food is pretty good, but it doesn’t make up for the rude and terrible unaccommodating service. They were so rude to my mother in law rushing us out of the door after a $280 bill I understand if it was 20 minutes after close, but one minute after close finishing a glass of wine and three separate times somebody came up to us. Will not be back.
