Great first time experience at Platypus and Gnome for an early Friday night dinner date. The restaurant has a great energy and an incredibly unique menu with game meat you won’t see elsewhere. Our starter was the fresh seared tuna and it was SO GOOD! for entrees we had the Elk burger and the Kangaroo steak panini. The burger was fantastic and had delicious GF bread. The panini was also delicious but the sauce used was not ideal for the kangaroo steak. We may try something different next time. Overall, the experience was wonderful, from the food to the service to the atmosphere. The only recommendation we would make is to not sit upstairs in the summer, it’s as if there is no A/C in the building and it was quite warm!

First time to try the place. Service was ok we had to ask for utensils and napkins as we watched others being seated and given everything. You must try their fries they have. They are intense. Very eclectic choice of meats. The duck was amazing. Actually it was all delicious. Will definitely be back. Can’t let 1 issue stop you from trying again.

Was one of the better restaurants I’ve been to since I’ve been back in the states after my tour of the Mediterranean. The wild game Cubano reminded of being back in Greece, and was just delightful. I don’t remember what the little chocolate cake was called, but for 12 bucks it’s a nice single serving, definitely not gonna share it anyway. The staff is lovely (at least the 3 that were working when I went), and my waitress was supper friendly in making suggestions. Around 5pm before a local festival and there was almost absolutely no wait or many customers, which is surprising at the quality of food and service at the time I was lucky enough to experience it.

Friendly staff. Bathroom was cute and clean. Loved the faucet. Quirky interior and I love gnomes. Saw a few. Friendly and professional staff. Close to market street parking deck. The fries actually cooked with seasoning salt and not just added after. Bacon bacon burger is love.

Stopped in to try something new and new is what we got. This place has meats from all around. Bison, wild boar, kangaroo, elk, duck, and ostrich. The panini with wild boar was amazing. The Platypus burger was a regular ground brisket burger, which was also good. It wasn’t too busy when we went and they also have weekly drink specials. Definitely a place to try if you are wanting something “different”.

This is an AMAZING restaurant!! We visited Willmington for the day (vacationing in Carolina Beach) and needed to eat at a restaurant that could accommodate my special needs. The salads were delicious and the unusual meat offerings were INCREDIBLE! Be adventurous and try something new on their menu. The yucca chips and huarana dip were so good that our granddaughter ate it with a spoon@ Thank you, Platypus & Gnome for a GREAT meal!

We ate here before heading over to a concert at the Live Oak Bank Pavilion. The food was good and the staff were friendly. Our waiter was attentive and the food came out quickly. I had the Bacon Bacon Burger. It was good and so were the fries. I’m not sure why, but the fries had a different flavor that we liked. Maybe they fried them in a different oil?
