Had great service the minute we walked in. The food was absolutely amazing!! If you are in the area, you need to try out this place. If you aren’t in the area…it is WORTH the drive

I had been looking for Puerto Rican rice for a long time, I found some at El Rey’s grocery store but it was dry. A coworker of mine mentioned to me about to Playa Café and told me I needed to try it. First off the visual was completely different I had never seen Puerto Rican rice looks so delicious if you go to El Rey grocery store to get some and you go over to the Playa Café you’ll understand. Secondly the food is so amazing It’s made hot and fresh right in front of you everything from the garlic bread to the main course was absolutely Heavenly. I had never heard of this place and I felt like it’s a hidden gem in the city. This restaurant comes highly recommended by me, wish I could give it an extra 3 stars.

I love the bistec and tostones. They have been around since the late 90s.

Great over the counter Puerto Rican spot with both sandwiches and full meals. Food is made to order so expect to wait after placing your order but it is well worth it.

I want to start by saying that I thought about writing this review for a few hours before actually starting to write it. I want to be fully supportive of small family businesses especially a Puertorican one, since I am Puertorican myself. My husband bought 2 bistec and rice plates, 2 alcapurrias, and 2 pastelillos. The plates were decent however, they chop the meat in tiny pieces to make it look like they are giving you alot (I worked in the food industry and know the tricks ). My alcapurrias were halfway raw and not edible, and lastly the pastelillos smelled horrible like they were fried in oil that was not changed in months. CHANGE YOUR OIL!!!! I want to see your business succeed which is why I am posting this so that you are aware as a business what your customers think. My husband and I work hard for our money and spending $43 plus a tip for food we could not fully enjoy was very disappointing. Also, I want to note that I have ordered from your business in the past and I can say the quality and flavor has drastically declined.

Did the online order with EatStreet to try to go pick up my food around the time that I was told between 4:35-4:40. I arrive at the store the store is locked and has a sign on the door to refer it to the truck that is supposed to be on The number in door is not in service. I took the trip to Burnham to see if I could find the truck and ask them about my order which was nowhere to be found. The lady that was also trying to place her order said that they haven’t been open in a long time. Was really looking forward to getting the food. I asked for a refund online due to not being able to pick up my food.
