A little small compared to the Chicago Penny’s, but would go again. We got the Lad Nar, Roasted Pork, and Vietnamese Spring Rolls. So good!!!

Would have given them 5 stars, was told our wait was 10 minutes. After waiting 40 minutes finally got our order for 6 ppl. They were short staffed, not my problem. Not good relations. Will not return.

I’m giving this place 3 stars because I feel Penny’s isn’t the same anymore. I went in on a Saturday, it was dead. They were playing Hispanic music which I thought was odd being an Asian restaurant. The server gave me an attitude because I asked if they were able to make the hot pepper noodle dish mild. For a min she argued with me that it’s not spicy at all..an that they can’t adjust anything. Then a min later she tells me ok we can make it mild. Just rude. Unprofessional in my opinion. I’ve been eating the same hot pepper noodle dish since they had their old location downtown. I don’t think I’ll be back.. or at least to this location.

Over 20 years ago I started eating at their original Lincoln Park location. Today, their delicious food keeps me coming back time after time. It helps that the restaurant is staffed by the nicest people in the world. When I call for pickup they know my order (lad nar with chicken and Japanese gyoza) and they have it ready in ten minutes. Ten minutes!

I don’t like to leave mediocre reviews. Unfortunately the food didn’t have much flavor or spice to it as the descriptions stated. The wonton had no flavor, the broth had no flavor, I got the spicy chicken on rice…not spicy in the slightest, nor did it have much flavor and sitting on a bed of white rice that dominated the dish. Very little chicken with tons of rice. Then my favorite part usually, the potstickers, these had no flavor either. Usually the gyoza sauce can make a flavorless gyoza better, but no even the sauce seemed only to be rice vinegar and maybe mirin, no flavor again. I’m shocked. I door dashed the food, but gosh never again. I would give less stars, but they’re a small business and it could’ve just been a bad day. I just didn’t think it could’ve been that flavorless. Maybe because they’re in Northfield and need to make the food according to their clientele of the area.. who knows.

THE BEST THAI FOOD PERIOD. Heathy, delicious, flavorful, and a great value. I have been going to Pennys Noodles in the city for 17 years and I am so happy there’s a location by my new home. I will be coming here once a week now, amazing!

I would give this half a star if I could. The food and sauce was gloppy, sticky and fried rice was full of cinnamon. Even the peanut sauce was bad. Food used to be good, but really fallen down in the last year or two. Can’t understand how they are still in business.

Nice cozy place serving good Thai food. The seating area is small, but comfortable. The service is quick with ample portions. PNS never disappoints me or those I take there.

Service is good but foot is bad here . I took my 2kids there for dinner . We ordered pad Thai and Thai fried rice and after few hours later all 3 of us had upset stomach. It continued all night long !!! No wonder why there was no costumers at dinner time . We are not going back for sure .

Great food and friendly staff. Equally good for a sit down meal or a quick snack and coffee.
