Amazing poke, very fresh. All of the side options were delicious as well, fries superb too! Afterwards we got shaved ice in the same building, wow. You can definitely tell the flavors are made from real ingredients, we’ll come back again before we go home for sure. Highly recommend!!

We happened upon this place after exploring the local waterfalls. We were trying to find something local and quick and ended up with my favorite meal of the whole vacation (including many high-end ocean view restaurants). I’m not big on raw seafood so I got a bowl with the pork, cucumbers, crab salad and rice. The flavors together were unique and incredible!! My husband got a burger and fries and he loved his too! But if you aren’t a local and you only have one chance to eat here – go with the bowl! You won’t regret it!

Great food stand at the Hilo Farmers market. The line seemed long to order, but our food came out fairly quick. The food was great. They have lots of drink choices, including beer and hard seltzers.

By far THE BEST poke place in the state of Hawaii. We’ve tried about a dozen different poke places on our trips to the islands but Poke’n’Sides is incomparable. Everything is fresh and it all looks so incredibly delicious we had no choice but to come here several times just to try everything. Our favorite side is the crabavo salad. Soooooo good! It’s actually really cheap especially if you compare it to fast food places or restaurants. The staff was sweet and you can tell they love their job. It felt like home everytime we stopped by. I wish there was a place half as good as this here in Germany but it looks like we will have to make another trip halfway around the world for Poke from Poke’n’Sides.

Food so good, we ate here twice in the 2 full days we were in Hilo. Poke is fresh and delicious with our favs being the Hawaiian and Shoyu. I also really enjoyed the Korean fried chicken plate. Seems like they separately fry the chicken skin, which tastes exactly like you’d think… Amazing! Definitely try this place if you’re in Hilo.

We stopped by to get a quick meal, and the 100 % local grass-fed beef burger sounded good to us.

It was one of very few places open on thanksgiving so it did a very brisk tourist business for lunch. I was torn between the Jakob special and a burger. I had a feeling the burger would be a standard thin, patty, but I did it anyway, because I figured I can get Jakob at a Korean restaurant that makes it all the time, not a place just occasionally serving it. It wasn’t as anemic a patty as I expected, but it was way too well done. There was a little blue cheese or Gorgonzola on top. The menu doesn’t say there’s mayo, but of course there is—my mistake. The fries are thin and very crispy, overall not bad.

Honestly? Some of the best poké bowls we had on the big Island, hands down! So fresh, so flavourful, so enjoyable. Seating is limited and the line up was long. The kids had burgers and fries, and they really enjoyed it. I had the 2-choice bowl with 2 sides. I chose the Wasabi Ahi and Shoyu Poke, with the Cucumber Kimchi and Krab-Avo Salad on the side. Absolutely loved it. A must-eat should you make it into Hilo. Highly recommend!

The first time we ate Kula Shave Ice this place was closed. The next day we came for Kula shave ice again and this place was open! We ordered quarter till closing (3p) – grilled fish tacos with French fries for $16.99. The fish was good but all together the tacos were just ok, kind of dry. The fries were good, kinda looked a little battered too. They have a seating area in the front that shares with Kula Shave Ice.
