My heart is singing and my tummy is full! Went up to Polo Steakhouse Carlsbad with some work friends. Chef Ryan & Chef Zen treated us like royalty! The customer service and everyone from the hostess to bartenders to waiter to back of house kitchen staff were all amazing! The new spring menu dishes are out of this world delicious! If you ever want a very special fine dining experience, check out Polo’s Steakhouse!

Last time I ate here, it was still West Steak and seafood, which I’ve been to many times for years. I can’t help but make a comparison between the previous and present ownership. The Wagyu ribeye steak was good. I got the 16oz boneless and I enjoyed it to the last bite. Not quite as many steak options though, and no daily specials not on the menu. I didn’t order salad because I couldn’t find anything like the caprese or wedge, or any regular salad. The salads are kind of different, a bit over the normal and too “California”-like. A few steakhouse favorite sides and salads are not on the menu as well. Beer options are unknown flavors – something you don’t want to risk trying with their pricing. No soda refills – bottles only. No free bread – $6 for a bread basket. The place was almost empty, unlike the previous where it was always packed. The servers were helpful and knowledgeable, but not as entertaining and enthusiastic sounding as the previous where they pretty much did a rehearsed presentation before taking your order. Bottomline, the previous was a one-off managed with a lot of TLC, while the present has a more corporate-managed feel to it. The food is well prepared, the pricing was reasonable. It is about as pricy as the previous ownership, but I’ve spend a lot more on tomahawk ribeyes or ribeye caps and other premium steaks in the past, so I’m not complaining on the pricing, because what I ordered was good. Will I go again? I’ll keep an eye on their menu for changes, especially on the salads and sides. Nothing better than a complete meal.

This place used to be West Steakhouse and the atmosphere is pretty much the same as it was. It’s great to see some of the old staff back. It isn’t as busy as it was before, but that said it seems to be a little bit understaffed with slow service at times.

Great food and cocktails. I was happy to see some of the staff from West Steakhouse now work there. I just wish there were more GF dessert and bread options.

Excellent meal and excellent service. This is a little hidden gem in Carlsbad. We liked it a lot. We had eight people and the server didn’t charge gratuity which was smart as I always tip 25% if they don’t already add it. Great experience.

The waiter got my order wrong and instead of an apology he argued that I hadn’t told him correctly. The fish portion was very small with a very high price. I’d say it’s a steakhouse that serves token fish meals and overcharges for them. Very dark decor. They didn’t upgrade anything from previous owners. If you want to eat healthy don’t go there.
