From Lufkin to Houston and back again, I’d have to stop twice, because their food is just that good. The brisket, the sausage, WOW! That smoke flavor is perfect. I personally really just love their Big Country loaded potatoes! They’re the best in east Texas! And if the decor doesn’t make you want to stand up and salute the flag, then you’re just not a patriot.

I came in Saturday, 3 July got there an hour before closing I ordered a pound of brisket and a half slab of ribs . The bone on the ribs were still cold they microwave them it was obvious and the brisket was grey colored No way was this barbecue fresh I spent $38 and the family wouldn’t even eat it. Gave it to the dog and went and got Mexican food definitely won’t be going back . Barbecue sauce was ice cold wish they would’ve at least microwaved it like they did everything else

Great flavor and good prices. The chickens they are cooking are a little small. Mac and cheese was very good and large quantity. Beans were not very flavorful, but most East Texas like it that way.

My daughter got Brisket and brought it home! I’m super cautious about brisket tasting and very picky on how I want it!! After my first nibble (taste test) I dove in for the second much bigger taste which then led to a chopped brisket sandwich!! Perfection!! Absolutely awesome!! Wish the hours were later than 3 p.m. but fully understand.

Amazing BBQ, staff, and atmosphere. It’s hard to beat my mother-in-laws potato salad, but Popping Smoke is darn close. The banana pudding is heavenly.
