I was craving a delicious Hot Dog and Portillo’s did not disappoint. I had a Chicago Style Dog with everything on it. I also had their moist and oh so good Chocolate Cake. My husband had an Italian Beef Combo, which I tasted and it too was delicious. Everyone was so nice and the atmosphere was very nice and clean. When I go back, I will visit Portillo’s Elgin.

This place is great for lunch or dinner, as well as dine in or drive thru/takeout. They have plenty of quality delicious food options that would please a variety of palates! Any issue I’ve had with an order is quickly and pleasantly resolved. Portillo’s is a very family friendly place for comfort food! I would especially like to give shout out to the older gentleman who works inside the restaurant in South Elgin. His name is Mark. I have seen him go above and beyond the call of duty making sure that the customer is having a great experience!!! His interactions with the public both young and old are priceless!

I’ve been to this Portillo’s and to be honest it’s been like three times that I’ve ordered something and they get it wrong as well like that time I ordered a cheese burger and I told them that I didn’t wanted any Mustard on my burger and they just literally put mustard on it so then I ordered another burger and I told them to not put mustard on that one either and they did the same thing again and also last Friday me and my friend we went to eat there but apparently he told them employees not to put mustard on his hotdog and they didn’t listen then I ordered a hotdog and they put peppers on it. I would come back here because the food is okay but I wish that instead of these people being distracted like if they can at least listen to every other costumer when they order something and not just put something that they didn’t even ask for as well. I would rate this a four not for the food but for the way that they attend you here only the food is okay the service not much really.

Beef skimpy and dry bread, French fries too much salt, missing peppers, cake slices were improperly sliced and small, strawberry dessert used to be good and was only average. Everything was “off” from the previous great reputation. I was disappointed. Quality control appears to be an issue lately.

I’m not a big fan of this brand, but I’ve gotta say, we stopped by about 45 minutes prior to close and I couldn’t be more impressed with this location’s professionalism. Our burgers were hot & delicious and the staff were pleasant and didn’t seem put off by our lateness.

If you live in the chicago area, surely you’ve heard of portillos. I’ll be honest, when I moved here 7 years ago, I didn’t get the hype. I mean the drive thru was always crazy long, the Italian beef was good and all but not anything to write home about. The chicago dogs were good with a nice snap to them but hey I could find that at a handful of other places.
