The fish and chips are delicious , the lobster roll was decent but I’ve had better , still so so fresh and a good treat to order also got the fried oysters they were good but for me it was too much fried food so didn’t finish them or ended separating the breading. The oysters were fatty and delish . I would deff return and recommend. The place was a little small so when busy feels a little tight.

One of the best beer battered fish and chips in greater Seattle! The batter is light, crispy, and salted. The serving of fish is massive and could be shared. The fries are thick cut and salted well.

I recently visited this fish and chips spot and had their fish and chips as well as their fish tacos. Both were fantastic! The fish and chips had a crispy coating and tender fish inside, served with perfectly seasoned fries. The fish tacos were also delicious, with a generous portion of fresh fish and flavorful toppings. The spot had a great atmosphere and friendly staff, making it a great experience overall. If you’re a seafood lover, I highly recommend giving this spot a try!

It’s Harlie, Darling!
Proper Fish in Bainbridge, WA serves up fish and chips that are quite the eye candy. They’ve got the looks with their visually appealing presentation and a texture that hits the spot. However, when it comes to flavor, they seem to be playing a bit too shy. The seasoning left me craving that extra oomph of taste. Now, let’s talk about the Prawn Cocktail. It’s like the prom queen of appetizers, all dressed up and ready to impress, but sadly lacking the charisma in the flavor department. It was an expensive disappointment. Considering my experience, I would give them a respectable 3 out of 5 stars. While there’s room for improvement, maybe a dash of flavor fairy dust could work wonders for their dishes.

While the fish of their award winning fish & chips was indeed delightful (a light batter and delightfully flaky), we were disappointed by everything else we tried. The fries were bone dry, and lacked flavor even after dousing it in ketchup and salt. The cod chowder had large chunks of fish in it, but again lacked any distinct flavor.

Large portion, $19.50 for 1 big fish and chunky chips. British style battered fish. Fried texture and color were good. Flavors were kind of plain. Missing some taste. Vinegar tasted like diluted, had to put a lot of ketchup to compensate.

I heard of this place from tictok, so we had to drop by to check it out. The staff was very friendly. At first, we ordered 2 fish and chips baskets and a clam chowder bowl which totaled $53 the fish was flavorless it was fried well the presentation was correct it looked good but tasted bland but edable the same could be said about the frys not memorable now the clam chowder tasted like a flavorless bowl of mush DID NOT TASTE LIKE CLAIM CHOWER and if your craving some clam chowder do not go here it was sad I brought it back to the kitchen and they said sorry we suck and we can throw it away for you and didn’t offer to refund me for the clam chowder even though you could see that it was still a full cup of white mush so if you would like my honest opinion I would save your money and go eat else where trust me it’s not worth the top dollar there asking for the flavor less food.

Stopped by for the first time to try their fish & chips. Was delighted walking in to a cool clean atmosphere. Love the inside of the place. No one else was there at 330pm during the week which was a little surprising seeing how people rave about this place on the reviews. But it did not dissapoint. The fish and chips were pretty amazing. Right up there with the best I’ve ever had and I know good fish & chips. Top 2 probably. Super light and crispy batter and seasoned perfectly. Fries and tartar sauce were on point too. Love the thick cut fries and they weren’t super uncooked like so many places today. Also got their clam chowder and I’d say it was pretty good but the consistency and texture was a bit off. A little too small of pieces in the chowder which was like a gritty texture. Personally like chowder with bigger chunks. It’s like the clams were chopped up really small. But still tasted good. No bacon in it which was nice. Overpowers it. Definitely will come back to try other menu items and the fish & chips were a staple for sure. They charge 50 cents for tiny little tartar sauces which was a minus considering they only give u one little one with a huge piece of fish and fries. But oh well, just knit picking. Also no fountain drinks, just bottled drinks. Small bottle coke was $3.50 and only tiny cups for putting ice in if you like your soda in a cup with ice. But 5 stars still for me! Will come back!

Friendly staff, great service. Wished the fries were better. The fries were tough and dry. We only ate 4-5 of them before giving up. Saw other reviews about their fries being dry so it probably wasn’t just our batch. Fish and oysters tasted fresh, but after the 2nd oyster, it just felt like we were eating batter.
