I want to like this place, but we have been twice now and I think that we won’t be returning again. I tried to make a reservation before our first visit in February, but when I called the number a fax line picked up. We arrived on a Saturday evening and were told there would be an extended wait to be seated and that it would have been best to make an advance reservation. When I explained what happened when I tried, the host brushed it off as an intermittent problem with their phone lines. The food was good that evening, and it was relatively quiet and uncrowded. We made reservations (successfully this time) for my birthday dinner this evening. When we arrived on time, we still had about a five minute wait to be seated. The restaurant was packed and very noisy. The area we were seated in was filled with families with small, screaming children (not the restaurant’s fault, I realize), and the waiter commented on the noisy situation. We decided to leave shortly after he took our drink order when the woman seated immediately behind me elbowed my back without acknowledgement while attending to her screaming child. I stopped by the host stand on our way out to say that we were leaving, and neither person at the stand said anything to me in response. I want to believe the hype about this place, but it seems to be just another “good old boys’ club” in Augusta where you have to be known already to receive the kind of service and experience this place is said to be known for.

Rae’s Coastal Cafe never disappoints. Comfortable atmosphere, friendly and attentive but not intrusive server, and delicious food. The orange sauce on the salmon was sensational. Trying to eat lightly was torpedoed by the dessert list, by my own fault, I chose the chocolate cheesecake with raspberry sauce, whip cream and it was a delightful taste experience. Everything was presented beautifully. I am hoping to be able to visit more often.

Stopped by for lunch on a Saturday. First time here for many years. Boy, you really have to follow Google maps to get their, even though it’s not far off Walton Way in a residential area. It’s truly like a seafood shack you would expect to find on the coast. Atmosphere was great, sat by the creek. Fish sandwich was the best I’ve ever had. Service was a little slow buy I had a very relaxing meal!

My husband and I went last night for my birthday. We both got The Triology, which was very good! Service was SO good (wish I could remember her name – brown hair septum piercing) ! Will be back soon!

I don’t typically give a review of the service received when dining, but my goodness… Service with a smile – nah; check in to see if our food was satisfactory – nope; after seeing I hadn’t really ate much of my food, circle back to see what was wrong – No again!!

Absolutely fantastic across the board. Everything from the food, personalized decor, ambiance, and friendly staff make Raes Coastal Cafe and true hidden gem. Not many of these left in the world. Owner even came out to have a conversation and show me around the restaurant. Beautiful outdoor seating as well along the creek.

One of my favorite places to eat. Went to lunch today with some coworkers from the Atlanta area and had shrimp and grits with side salad. Everything was perfection. Our coworkers loved the atmosphere and the food. Topped it off with some dessert too. Chef’s kiss! 10 out of 10….always recommend!

I’ve been here a few times mainly because it’s walking distance. The food is ok…recently I ordered a Caesar salad for carry out. It was all iceberg lettuce, no Romain and cheese. The manager said they don’t use romain. When I know I’ve had it before and it’s literally on the menu lol! I honestly wish places wouldn’t treat carry outs like this!

Very disappointed. The food was awful, atmosphere outstanding and service very good. Everything I chose from the menu provided was unavailable and the server said “maybe we should make that a special”. The best thing of the evening was the river flowing by outside the window and the ducks. there are better Jamaican places.

Went for lunch. Crab cake was exceptional. Typical iceberg salad, real saffron rice. Nice outside seating with views of the creek. Seemed like limited staff, so it took a while to be greeted at table, then later to get refills. Don’t know how in the world anybody ever ate there before G Maps, because it would’ve been so hard to find, lol.
