I haven’t been here since before COVID; so it’s been a few years. Boy was I surprised at all the changes to the store and menu and not in a good way. It was always a staple go to spot when in MoTown!!!

I used to come here but it’s different now. The empandas are made with plantains and most people are expecting flour but I like plantains. I got two, spinach which was very good. The other was chicken curry which was so dry and tasted like I was eating curry powder. My husband got beef which he said was very plain and a fiery steak one which was very good. I wanted to try the sauces they had advertised but only had two made. They were just ok. Not sure if I would go back again. It’s lost it’s appeal.

Ordered online for a late night pick up 10/10. Empanada were made fresh, large size, packed with goodness. Raul’s had vegetarian options that were delicious – beans and rice/ mix veggies/ cheese and broccoli.

Ordered a bunch of chicken & beef empanadas. Chicken ones were ehhh, alright cooked outside with different flavoring than what I previously remembered but the chicken was very dry making even finishing even 1 hard to justify. The beef was better.

Empanadas were probably the worst empanadas I’ve ever ate. Hands down. They weren’t bad per se but they were very bland. They were filling but even the place was very ragged and the service was meh. Do not waste your time coming to this place. Also the place inside look really ugly with handmade tables and some shiny brown paint.

The best empanadas. …it’s definitely a take to-go place because there aren’t any chairs. …open late hours. .make sure you try the guava empanada for dessert. Yummmmm

Would give zero stars if I could. totally overcooked and dark brown. Cooked in oil that is probably a month old. Filled only half way and the nice creamy sauce is now watery. When Raul sold the place the new owners are not keeping the same standards. Used to come all the time, haven’t been in years and wont be coming again. Yuck, what a waste of money!
