Quaint luncheonette nestled on a small little street in Montclair. Liked the menu options, so ut took a little switching back and forth to finally choose. We sat outdoors bc it was a perfect day for it. I had a veggie hash, and friend and I shared a short stack. Don’t remember what she ordered to eat, but she ordered a strawberry banana smoothie with her meal. The price for the portion size and an enjoyable plate of food made us both leave saying, it goes on our list to return. Opens from 6 a.m. to 3, and bet they’re pretty packed on the weekends. Pleasingly surprised!

Rays in the best of the best of the best. Perfection all around. My absolute favorite business to ever exist. A true gem. I love you all. You can eat a diff dish every time and never be disappointed. Everything is made to order and incredibly delicious. Their homemade hot sauce is simply amazing. this place has such a charm! Also, the price… u can’t beat the price. Unbelievable good for a really reasonable cost. There is no competition. U are a fool to eat breakfast or lunch anywhere other than rays.

Tasty food, reasonable portions and good service. I had home fries, over medium eggs, sausage and whole wheat toasts and enjoyed every bite. The staff is nice and friendly, too. The dine-in area is a bit small and narrow, but that didn’t impact my experience negatively.

Ray’s is simply the best! Not only is the staff super friendly, the food is absolutely delicious! It’s rare these days to find food this amazing for a reasonable price. The incredible chef even surprised us with the best beef empanadas I’ve ever had. Please open an empanada shop!!! There would be lines around the block!! Will definitely be coming back to Ray’s!

Love Ray’s. We are lucky to have a place like this in Montclair and the community/family atmosphere here is something most places lost long ago. I visit often in the mornings and am a veg so can’t comment on the wonderful-looking meaty/BBQ or lunch/dinner menu. We have only been for breakfast and what we love about the place is the excellent friendly quick service, tasty home-cooked food and the fact that it is the only diner in town open before 7am. Honestly, what real diner is closed at 6:30am? In Montclair every other one is closed so if you actually get going in the AM and want a diner meal before school or work, this is your place. They do a robust takeout and coffee business for folks headed to the train at Walnut St station. Perfect spot for a quick meal or takeout on the way to/from the train. Highly recommend!
