Food/Taste/Flavor: 2/5 – we’ve been to this place multiple times but the quality seems to be going down… The Braised Pork in Brown Sauce wasn’t marinated long enough so there was no flavor in the middle. The fat wasn’t rendered or processed well so some pieces were queasy and almost inedible.

This place is insanely delicious, the service is fantastic and the pricing is extremely fair! We ordered the shrimp, steamed fish, raw blue crab, red braised pork belly, sautéed garlic green beans, vermicelli noodles and three cup baby squid. Highly recommend this place to anyone and would definitely come back.

Lunch and dinner specials are priced relatively low and you can get 4 dinner dishes for under $50 pre-tax. Excellent Pork Belly dish 红烧肉，not as good as the东坡肉at another restaurant I reviewed recently but still pretty perfect. Fried cuttlefish has a very tasty sauce. Gets busy and may have to take a number for seating.

We stuck mostly to the $10.99 menu, which may seem almost like a “dollar menu” in other restaurants, but here, you get so much food in every $10.99 dish, and these dishes are truly delicious and unique. This is a fantastic deal at this restaurant! We ordered 6 of these specials, and even with three hungry people, there was quite a bit for us to take home. It was a most enjoyable dinner. This is not exactly a quiet place, but since we were so hungry, that didn’t matter so much to us. Getting so much wonderful food at a reasonable price, and with very speedy service, made this a great experience.

Came here with the parents and in-laws for a post-New Year’s Day treat after spending all day in cold wet weather. We had originally made reservations for 6:30 but arrived earlier than expected and the staff was very accommodating and allowed us to be seated right away. This was my second experience at Red 99, and I had been very impressed with the selection, portion size, and quality of offerings from their $10.99/plate dinner specials list, so that’s what we ordered from this time. They did NOT disappoint! Everything was made fresh, hot, and delicious, and presentation visuals were worthy of a fine establishment. Service was decently timely and attentive despite the crowded environment.

It’s becoming our favorite place to dine in. The ambiance is pleasant, chic and modern. The service is outstanding. The entire staff are polite and not rude like some places when they are busy. And, best of all, the price is great. The place is always packed so make sure to arrive early. The food is delicious and very affordable, which usually don’t go together. The portions are big too, with plenty of leftovers.

I was invited to this restaurant by Danny, who is a Suzhouese/Shanghaiese who left his hometown almost 70 years. He invited me to this one several times, even after I cooked more than twenty to thirty dishes by myself for him. I always wonder how did he even dare to invite me to a Chinese restaurant which sells Braised Pork in Los Angeles, my Braised Pork was noted as the best Braised Pork in Shanghai, and my recipe was noted as the textbook teaches the generations for cooking Braised Pork.

$10.99 lunch and dinner special!!! Decent dishes. Packed all the time. Rsvp is maybe possible for parties of 5+. Specials include edamame, soup, rice and tea. Last call/kitchen closes at 840pm. It’s a steal!! Dishes included whole steamed fish, chili water boiled fish, stir fry dishes and more. Staff are really really busy so you’ll have to just understand you’re coming for a steal. Waving down service action doesn’t work when staff doesn’t even go toward your section so where you sit can matter. It’s so packed, you don’t get a choice of where to sit.
