We stayed at the Comfort Inn next door to The Red Horse Inn and wanted to have seafood for dinner. The weather turned wicked, with ferocious winds battering the area. We walked over to the Red Horse Restaurant and was warmly greeted and seated. Started with Mardi Gras oysters and crab cakes. Delicious! Then we ordered French onion soup. Perfect.. Finished with the fish tacos. Very good. The fruity drinks were well made. If I lived in the area, this restaurant would probably become my go to place for a special dinner treat. Oh, BTW, if you stay at the Comfort Inn, you get a 10% off your food items.

Staff was great and the restaurant is cozy inside. The steak was amazing and seems to be what they are known for. I also tried their crabcake and it was about average. But I would definitely go for steak here. Loved the blue cheese and spinach on top!

Went for Date night with Wifey.. atmosphere of restaurant needs some updating service was good, food was great. Prices were on the high side but the food was worth it.. Beer wasn’t cold enough but drinkable…

Nice options for entrees. I had the Steakhouse Sirloin that had a blue cheese, spinach topper on an average, good size sirloin. My wife had a grilled salmon that was delicious. Service was excellent. Bread accompanied our meal and the overall price was very reasonable.

Zero clue why this place has a 4 star rating. This was the worst tasting and over priced food we’ve had in a very long time. Only 3 tables had guests and it took 1.5hrs for our simple food order that was so bad we didn’t even eat it. To say this place is average would be an over statement. Save your time, money, and stomach the pain and go anywhere else! Also be prepared without warning that if you pay with a card your bill is more expensive. That should probably be told especially given the over priced food. We won’t be back.

My husband and I are new to Frederick and happened upon the Red Horse by happy accident. Red Horse has become our go-to favorite nice restaurant. We always ask to sit at the same table, in Don’s section. The food is consistently great and Don gives impeccable customer service. Don makes a fabulous cocktail, and they have a very nice wine list. I’m a seafood lover and have found their shrimp cocktail and apricot glazed sea scallops totally perfect every time we go. Thank you, Don & Red Horse, for giving us a great experience each and every time we come for dinner.

After a long drive we stayed overnight in the Comfort Inn right next door to the Red Horse and decided to walk over for appetizers and drinks. What a delicious surprise this charming place is! We sat next to a warm open fire in a gracious dining room. Our attentive server was Tessa who was knowledgeable about the menu and helped make some recommendations.

This place is really nice for a casual dinner or a celebration, the decor was cozy and it had a nice ambiance. I got the steak and it was cooked to perfection. My girlfriend got the salmon and she was really happy with it. The waiter(Buck) was a great person and was full of chat and made sure everything was as we ordered. I would definitely come back here again 10/10

Went there for an intimate birthday. Ordered Crab Dip, escargot, and fried pickles for apps, Moscato and Sangria for drinks and Spicy Seafood Alfredo, Jumbo Shrimp with Crab and NY strip with kale and Mashed potatoes for entrees.
