We stopped in to try some local beers and food. At Red spruce we ordered the salmon burger(delicious!) And Farmer’s market salad with prawns(also delicious with fresh ingredients, tasted of summer). Both dishes were flavorful, well seasoned and perfectly cooked. Topped off the meal with a devils club shake. Never had devils club in any shape or form before and wanted to try it. Mostly tasted like vanilla ice cream with a hint of herbal flavor. Still very good. Very nice establishment with nice views and lots of outside seating options as well with firepits to keep you warm.

A wonderful gem located in a beautiful setting with incredible views. The menu is constantly evolving from week to week to feature new dishes made with fresh, seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients. The owner/executive chef spends his free time foraging for wild grown mushrooms, fiddlehead ferns, sea grass and anything else he can find to incorporate into the menu for a distinctive flavor. On today’s visit we had the house-made bologna sandwich, sidewinder fries with chorizo gravy and beer cheese sauce, fish sandwich, and Korean BBQ wings. All absolute winners, but the bologna and fries we agreed were our favorites. I make it a point to visit as often as possible when I am in Juneau, and the Forbidden Peak beer is a perfect accompaniment to each meal! This place should be on everyone’s list, both locals and visitors alike!

Updated 2023.03.04. Red Spruce no longer imposes a 3% credit card fee. Ordered the Royale Burger $17 which consists of ground beef and pork, includes fries. It was overcooked, not juicy.

Red Spruce is in literally the most beautiful venue I’ve ever seen, the view of Auke Bay harbor is incredible any day of the year. Their menu changes several times a year which is awesome, they focus on keeping seasonal food in style. I love that. My top favorites are the burger, Pad Thai or the Farmer’s Market Salad(made with locally sourced produce)

Been here twice now and one experience was decent and the other was bad. The decent was Pad Thai. Good flavor, but with no meat on it, got old after awhile. Would eat it again though. The burger was the bad. It was very greasy, lacked flavor and immediately had me in the bathroom. Would not recommend the burger.

After biking across the US this summer, I was welcomed back into open arms. The crew at Red Spruce and Forbidden Peak are one of the best I’ve had the pleasure to work with. Not to mention the food at Spruce is always top notch especially with a beer from Forbidden.

Great concept, “Street food from around the world,” poor execution. Zero presentation; food tossed on a paper plate. Which would be fine if it wasn’t $7.50 for a single ground beef taco. Who ever heard of Lumpia made with only rice and kidney beans, Where’s the cabbage and pork? Most filipinos I know would be offended. The smash burger is a joke for the price you pay. I’d suggest going next door to Squires, ordering your food and take it next door to the Forbidden Peak and enjoy some really nice beer with it.

The good: food has always arrived in a pretty timely fashion. Their Bavarian pretzel ($11) is the best in town, in my opinion. I also like their rotating menu, which helps cut down on the food monotony in this small town.
