The epitome of an old-school steakhouse across from the Del Mar race track in Solana Beach. Open for lunch on Fridays. Otherwise, a piano bar steakhouse at night. The best ribeye steak I’ve had in years. Huge baked potatoes. Healthy pours on the drinks. The French dip sandwiches were ample and OK with an excellent au jus. The patty melt was a patty melt. Stick with the steaks and prime rib, and you’ll be very happy.

The restaurant, food, service, and atmosphere here is amazing! Feels like you’ve traveled back in time to an old school steak house which I absolutely love! Ana & Blair are the best waitresses, they always ensure we were taken care of and if we ever have a question about anything on the menu, they are quick to answer and even give some suggestions!

Our waitress, Katie, heartily recommended the Sunday night special, Fried Chicken. My dinner companion chose the prime rib. The Fried Chicken was over cooked and not edible. The prime rib was undercooked. Katie took the prime rib back to the kitchen. A server brought it back to the table, it was returned still undercooked. We never saw Katie until she tried to sell us desert. She then took two plates from our table with barely eaten entrees and sides. The entire experience was very disappointing. This had been our favorite Del Mar restaurant. The quality of the food and the service has substantially diminished. No one seemed to care that we left without being able to enjoy our meals. There was no price adjustment on the check. No one from management even spoke with us.

I love this place! I live in Del Mar, I’m single, and I enjoy myself every time I go here. The food is consistently over the top amazing. Everyone is always happy there, so you can’t help but enjoy yourself. It’s a great place to go on a date or with family or friends. It’s an old school type of place w/great music too!

My husband and I love Red Tractons! We have been going there for years. Not only is the food excellent, but the piano playing and entertainment by Bobby Cruz is the best there is. Bobby’s repertoire of songs is extensive. He even remembers what people like so that when they return they are greeted with their favorite tunes! Heidi, our favorite server, is gracious and so efficient. She tries to make the dining experience so enjoyable. Bravo to Red Tractons!!

I walked in, and it was very busy, in a good way though. I was by myself without a reservation so I knew it was a longshot getting a table or seat at one of the bars. The host told me I could order to go. So I ordered a Ribeye and loaded baked potato. My hotel was a 15 min UBER ride. By the time I got in my room, the food was packaged so well it was still hot! My plastic knife cut right through the Ribeye! Perfecto! The baked potato was excellent too! I’ve been to Red’s several times over the years and it’s always good. Even using plastic utensils in my hotel room, ha ha!
