We absolutely love stopping by this German-Swiss jewel of a restaurant in Dahlonega, GA on our way to the mountains! We usually keep it simple, but love the Schnitzel with a side of Spätzle! Also great with a fried egg on top and the German Iced Coffee is delightful!

I love German food, so we came across this small restaurant and decided to give it a try. The schnitzel is delicious, although i got a different type of French fry than listed in the menu. They were still good, just not house cut. we also shared a pretzel, not made fresh but authentic tasting. Something to dip it in would be nice. Staff was friendly and attentive, nice little place to visit while in the area.

Our first time here, the staff and owner were great. Suggesting menu items and drinks, asking how our dinner was, and it was good! My husband had the Currywurst with house fries, he really enjoyed it, the curry ketchup was very good and normally he hates ketchup. I tried the Fleischkäse/Leberkäse with a pretzel and potato salad. It was delicious. I will be back and highly recommend this spot if you want a change of pace in food and atmosphere.

The Biden economy must be affecting the quality of food at Reens’? I ordered Jägerschnitzel because the picture on the menu with the abundant mushrooms in the gravy looked to good to pass up! Red cabbage was my side. To my surprise (and disappointment), my Jägerschnitzel looked nothing like the photo on the menu. The flavor. It just wasn’t there! And the MUSHROOMS…they definitely weren’t there! Judge for yourselves. Image A is the menu photo; image B, is my less than mediocre Jägerschnitzel barren of any recognizable shrooms, with only a couple stems hidden in the tasteless gravy, along with the oddly flavored red cabbage. Only the beer was good! I won’t be going back.

It’s ok if you find yourself in Dahlonega craving German food, but definitely worth driving to Helen for better. Reens’ is a tiny hole-in-the-wall restaurant with limited inside seating and even fewer parking spaces. The portions are a bit on the smaller side, but adequate. The taste though is only fair. I’ve had better schnitzel and currywurst at my job’s cafeteria.

Don’t blink or you’ll drive right past it. Buried in a strip mall with a vape shop behind some trees it’s easy to miss.
