Bob Rein had a passion for high quality, flavorful deli. Bob and Betty loved to entertain friends and family. Our family gatherings centered around great home cooking. Guests who frequented our home left with appetites delightfully satisfied and hearts warmed by shared friendship.
Bob did it his way – using only the best ingredients to draw out the flavors of the fine food we serve at Rein’s Deli. Our food is seasoned, but not spicy. We use just enough Hellman’s Mayonnaise to hold our salads together. You can always add more. We have yet to find a more flavorful Corned Beef or Pastrami than Hebrew National. We use genuine Switzerland Swiss cheese and White Albacore Tuna.

Really Useful
The food was delicious. My family has been going to them for over 40 years. Now we made a conscious effort to include Rein’s Deli en route of our travels. However, on weekends during meal hours, the place could be packed and one has to wait to be seated. they do not take reservations. so we call in ahead to order first. anyway, it is worth it.

I hadn’t been to Rein’s in a while, so it was awesome to stop in on 04/02/2023. Staff seated us right away. As we looked over the menu, stre-made while pickles arrived at the table. These are so much better than any jarred pickles I’ve tried. Our order was taken as soon as we were ready.

Good sandwiches, breads, and baked goods. Had turkey and chopped liver – very good! Also, pastrami sandwich flavor was good, but skimpy with the pastrami. Can eat outside on small patio.

There aren’t a lot of places to get New York style deli food in northeast Connecticut. I grew up in NY metro area and lived on Long Island a while. I was very happy with the quality of the food. Also, they make egg creams.

I’ve been coming here since I was little. Came here for takeout and got two sandwiches. Both my sandwich and my fiancé had rotten lettuce in it. We love this place so it was a bit disappointing. Please don’t add rotted lettuce into your sandwiches.

We’ve been traveling for 38 days and my son said this was his favorite restaurant. As we’ve traveled through about 12 states, the lack of decent customer service has been striking, but Rein’s Deli is the clear exception with its excellent service. We were there at a busy time but even so we were seated and served quickly, and each staff member we talked with was friendly and seemed to be enjoying his or her job. Food selection was huge, and each dish tasted great.

Not sure what happened here. They lost their ” NY Style Deli” clout as far as i am concerned. I ordered a half of a pastrami sandwich because they used to be well stuffed and quite filling. Today I ordered a half a pastrami sandwich and got a finger sandwich with 4 little strips of tough pastrami. Even if I had òrdered a whole sandwich it would of still been inadequate even for a kid. Stingy. PS was sick with an upset stomach the evening after my lunch and into the next day.

Always a favorite stop when passing thru Hartford. French toast was just right, thick and done just enough. Note busy time starts about 11am but the line moves quick.

Update as of today. Food was okay, eggs not great but edible. Service not as well as when first came. Waitress did not ask if everything was okay or if we needed any more coffee or nothing else. Noticed other waitress asked table next to ours how their meal was and if anything more they needed. Sharp contrast from my first visit. Place was not even that crowded so service could have been better. Meal pricy also. Received better services elsewhere, not sure when or if coming back, but maybe it was just an off day for staff.
