My first time here since they reopened. Family restaurant, comfort Japanese food that brings me back to eating in Japan. Friendly staff, great quality food. Rolls are creative and fresh. Love the crunchy salmon and lemon salmon roll. Tempura is light and crispy. Beef and chicken teriyaki are juicy and flavorful.

When I was a child, I always thought Renga-Tei is where rich folks went out to eat Japanese food. This place hasn’t changed in decades, and in many ways, that is why it is still popular. They still take reservations only by phone and are written in a notebook. Their dishes from bento boxes to sake probably have been prepared the same way since I was a child. It’s not trendy, nor is it flashy or fancy. Just solidly good food with excellent service.

Authentic Japanese restaurant! The food is amazing. Mostly comfort Japanese food. We love bento box options if we go for lunch. It filled you up pretty good. Saba teriyaki is my favorite!

Amazing quality sushi, amazing EVERYTHING actually. You know it’s good Japanese food when it’s where Japanese people go to eat.

First time at this particular restaurant. I usually order nigiri and maki but I wanted to try something different this evening. The sashimi and shumai was great. I got the Sanma Shioyaki as my entree and I was pleasantly surprised at how amazing it tasted. I would recommend getting an extra bowl of rice with the entrees as I think one bowl is not enough — for me at least. The iced green tea is also very refreshing.

I believed this place has changed… because all my favorite items are all gone :/ which is really sad cause it seems like it has became a quick sushi place—short menu with one page front and back which features a lot of rolls (the salmon lemon one was actually really good tho) not even a drink menu which was really strange

It’s always crowded and justifiably so.

Have been a long time customer (20 years) and the visit last weekend was such a disappointment. As others have said – the menu is missing so many of the favorites that made Renga Tei special from other Japanese restaurants. Also was upset to see bento boxes are lunch only! The food was definitely not as good. The tempura was terrible and the sushi actually would fall apart when picking it up. That would never happen under the previous ownership. It’s such a shame that we will no longer go back unless we see the reviews say things have gotten better and the menu puts back those old favorites. All good things come to an end and this looks like it for us with Renga Tei
