I’ve been to this location twice and it is the best barbacoa I’ve had in a long time. This location is better than other Rios as well. It’s all meat with very little grease and full of flavor. Just add a little salt and some salsa and you’re good to go. Their hot sauce is delicious too.

First time visitors and they didn’t disappoint! We got there 30 minutes before they closed and they assisted us right away. We had only asked for a pound of barbacoa and the lady gave us free tortillas and chicharrones since it was our first time!

I’ve only had barbacoa from a few places in San Antonio. I’ll say… it had been really tough to find a good spot until I tried the barbacoa from this Rios location. The friendly/helpful service, savory barbacoa, and yummy salsas made this experience the best in town. Moving forward, I will be purchasing my barbacoa from this location only. 5 stars easily!

My family was skeptical but I am always open for new food experiences. We all agreed: rich menudo, delicious fluffy homemade tortillas, barbacoa was exactly what you expect from barbacoa – meaty and tasty, pico was crisp and cold. What I was missing – a handful of fresh cilantro for my menudo but it was still very tasty and hominy was perfectly cooked – not mushy or too firm. The service was friendly and pleasant. The sitting and service areas were organized and clean.

We live close to Castroville and prefer to drive to this location for the barbacoa. Not every location makes the barbacoa the same, and the customer service makes it much better. There are two Rios close to where I live, but the food and service does not compare!!
