Risas is a great little Jewish soup & sandwich soup located in the back side of 285 Delaware. It’s easy to miss as there are no signs from the front, but it’s been there forever. They have a great selection of soup and sandwiches, with matzo ball soup and sweet & south cabbage soup being standouts. Their pastrami sandwich is also thinly sliced & fresh.

This is by far the cleanest and most enjoyable restaurant to have a bite to eat in. It’s inside a larger building but the staff made me feel welcome and greeted me when I entered the lobby. They also were very polite when I ordered and while bringing me my food and gave me salutations when I left with a warm smile. I really felt welcome and that they wanted to see me.

I stumbled in for lunch with my co-worker who recommended this… Well when I tell you my knees buckled and I had to sit down!!! That sweet and sour cabbage soup was something magical… 20 mins later as I write this I still taste it. The sandwich was meaty and plentiful!!! The macaroni salad was creamy and delicious!! Everything was full of flavor!!! I am HOOKED!!! I will be back tomorrow to try the cold slaw and more soup because I’m hooked like the gang on Seinfeld(I’m just glad they aren’t soup nazis lol)!! I’m so thankful I found this gem!!!

This place is a hidden. For Buffalo , real kosher style deli food is pretty much extinct. This is the last standing with a lineage of an old kosher deli called Stumpy’s deli on hertel. Risa has carried on her grandfather Stumpy’s tradition. This is one of the only place is actually pickling and brining their own corned beef and pastrami with a very old traditional recipe. I wish more people knew about this place and give them the business as it is truly underappreciated. Amazing food great sandwiches definitely a must try if like kosher style deli food and other kosher style delights.

What an excellent find right here in downtown Buffalo. Not too easy to find inside of a office building, but it is well worth it! You’ve got to try the sweet-and-sour cabbage soup. It is fantastic!
