No longer worth the wait!!!! We’ve been eating at this place since the first month it opened. Back then, they were coming up the learning curve as far as service and timing but the food was excellent. Since then the service has gotten better and then waned but the food was still very good. The service issue relates to the staff being less focused on the customer and more on each other. Two months ago we dropped by for a bite and stood waiting at the door for 5 minutes listening to the wait staff discuss gratuities (not 5’ from us) while empty tables remained uncleared. We were told to just have a seat and they’d clear the tables soon. To which we responded that we’d prefer not to seat at a table until it was cleared upon which the gratuity discussion resumed. So we left. Hoping that things had gotten better, we dropped by again last week. No uncleared tables this time but the wait for our meals was 50 minutes and when the food was served it was served cold. With our group of two (2) being only one of a total of five (5) in the entire restaurant we decided that that meal would be our final one at this restaurant. Closing note – if the owner (Holly, if memory serves) were to re-engage, we think things (both food and service) would improve. Personally, I’m hoping that Holly gets this message.

Excellent place to grab breakfast/lunch. The American plate was very good and even though the restaurant was busy on a Sunday the service was still great. Their shrimp poboy was also very good. It’s a quick drive to the Springfield campground. 5 stars!

Another wonderful morning at River Forks Café – Great food, folks & fun! Met some great folks this morning and quotes were overheard by a sweet young patron, “These pancakes are ‘da bomb’ – tell the chef he did a great job – these are the best! I want to work here when I grow up! This is better than… {a very popular, successful breakfast chain}” Their chef, Sam, was beaming, and chatted amiably with the young customer. Another man, a frequent customer, said he got the American Plate and everything was “”great food and great service, as always!” This has always been our experience, as well! We have been coming here since they opened as we live nearby and have businesses in the area!

Wife and I ordered a Hash Trash Bowl. Nothing crazy grits/meat/veggies gravy on top. Granted they are busy but most of the stuff in the bowl should be prepared already. 45+ minutes later our bowls show up. My wife’s bowl can only be described as soup…the only thing visible was a milky type liquid with green peppers floating in it. The fact this made it out of the kitchen with nobody seeing it and saying “Hey that looks like a bowl of soup vomit what are we doing” is beyond me. Needless to say we weren’t interested in eating anymore and went to leave. We were met at the door by the General Manager and did she offer an apology? Was she upset at her kitchen staff for serving soup vomit? Of course not! She said she’d call the police if we left. My wife called her bluff and asked her to retrieve the soup vomit for us so as evidence for the very important call to the police….they said they’d thrown it away already….which is good I guess because that’s what you do with soup vomit. I get that places are short staffed and times are hard but I didn’t open a restaurant in the middle of a pandemic so I’m not interested in excuses. The food was beyond unacceptable and to threaten to call the police after we ate nothing and tried to leave is ridiculous and shows what kind of establishment this is.

Super nice chill place, they offer some good vegetarian options in the area. The service was great. My avocado toast was a bit sad for the price but I’m sure other things in the menu might be a better option 🙂

Have not had a bad experience at this establishment to date. The gravy biscuit is one of a kind with 2 open faced biscuits, a sausage patty and lastly the sausage gravy on top. Fair price and comforting atmosphere. Very friendly staff welcome you like an old friend. Enjoy stopping in for breakfast or lunch. They never disappoint.
