Hannah, the wait staff, said the prime rib looked looked tonight and she was right! Served with delicious roasted cauliflower and a baked potato done perfectly. Very tasty cocktail and Fulton beer is always a hit. Very satisfied with our dining experience.

The location right on the river is very nice, but the bugs were a bit much when we were there as it was late summer. The food was good, but not great. The service was good, but not great. The atmosphere was what we call “foo-foo”…or hipster.

The facility is historic and the view from the back upstairs deck is nice but the service and food were just okay. Everyone was nice but our server came to us for our order twice having forgotten she’d already come by. Then we never got silverware or napkins. Luckily we could eat without and licking fingers made it work. The menu looked delicious so maybe worth another try.

Unique setting, awesome menu! This place is so unique; it has full outdoor seating, partially enclosed seating and fully enclosed seating. Located on the Root River, it is gorgeous! The menu is perfect size and has great choices. Very freshly prepared and delicious! Acoustic music outdoors on Sundays, very quaint and folksy. Definitely will become a favorite once you’ve been there.

Nice, although limited beer selection. Service was very friendly, if a little slow. The lamb burger I had was served on a pita, gyro-style, and was perfectly cooked and delicious. My wife had a Ruben that had plenty of absolutely first-class corned beef in it. great place to sit outside, have some good food, and watch the traffic on and off the bike trail.

We were in Lanesboro for the weekend to ride some of the flattest and easiest bike trails you’ll ever find. We ate at a few different places but initially we avoided Riverside on the Root because of the mixed Google reviews. The guy who complained there’s no prime rib at lunch time and the woman with real or imaginary dietary restrictions that the waiter wasn’t able to immediately divine, can be dismissed as fringe elements (I myself have been mutton free since 1982), but the complaints about poor food and service were a little off putting. Nevertheless, our experience was very good. The hostess was who seated us was knowledgeable and very friendly. It was cool outside on the deck, so she offered blankets and turned on the overhead radiant heater. Our waiter was prompt and professional, and even split the appetizer cost on our bill, which was appreciated but not requested. The entrée we ordered (baked walleye topped with king crab and shrimp) came promptly and was both delicious and filling. Pay no attention to the tolls giving only one star. Our experience would suggest Riverside on the Root is as good as any other place in town, and better than most. Plus the deck is pretty nice, being right there on the river such as it is.

Good food! Not your normal fare. Seating is outside with some seating under a roof for when it rains. Love the atmosphere. Provides music during the summer months. Service here is very slow. The best part was the band that played. Loved the banjo.

Although the ambiance is nice, the food quality is extremely low and overpriced, the waitstaff is terrible and has no knowledge about allergens… would be nice if the description of what is included in a meal matched the meal itself, and if items advertised on the menu were available. Particularly if you have a gluten allergy, or if you just enjoy good food, STEER CLEAR!! Would NEVER recommend to a friend.

Stopped her on a gorgeous Saturday about a month back. Patio area where we sat was very nice and right along the bike trail. The service was a bit slow and the food was very disappointing and overpriced. $13 for a below average burger which after tasting was obviously pre frozen. And for that price you think you’d at least get fries, nope, just a bag of chips. Really? $13 for a heated up frozen patty and potato chips? Oh, and they forgot my pickle also, not a big deal, just annoying.

This is a great place to go on a summer weekend. It has an upstairs and an outdoor patio. They have state-local beer options and a great menu. Their location is also at the seat of downtown, right next to the bike path. Definitely a place to check out!
