The Back Yard Bar at Roadside Bar and Grill in Duck, NC, was an absolute gem! The staff exuded fun and friendliness, instantly making me feel like a local rather than a tourist. The absence of a touristy vibe was refreshing. The outdoor fire pit added a cozy touch on a cool summer evening, creating the perfect ambiance. Live music only enhanced the experience, and the well-curated drink selection struck a perfect balance between variety and simplicity. It was the ideal spot to relax with a drink and unwind after a day at the shore. Highly recommended for a laid-back and enjoyable time!

Food was mediocre at best. The only side option for any dish is pasta salad which is very weird. The atmosphere is dark and uninviting. There was dust and spider webs in the corners. Our server had ZERO personality, she didn’t say her name. She told us the special which was a chicken sandwich and said… ‘it’s just a chicken sandwich’. Lol. She’s not even trying at this point. Ordered 2 margaritas and they had no alcohol in them. It was bitter with just lime juice. Had to add sugar packets! They also rimmed the glass with table salt. Who does that?! We won’t be back

This restaurant offers excellent cocktails, delicious food, and a modest menu with a variety of choices. Yes, there are some seafood dishes, but if you want something else, you can find it here. The building gives off a dive bar atmosphere. It’s a little rough around the edges and cramped. But wait staff work together as a team and are very friendly and hospitable. Prices are what you’d expect in a resort area. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Plenty of parking in the lot behind the building.

They seated our party of 9 outside within 5 minutes of arriving, which worked well considering it was 70 degrees. They had delicious complimentary bread. Our server was polite & checked on us regularly. The food was pricier and worth it! I really enjoyed the seafood.

The setting is homey, eclectic but welcoming. The service is nice and prompt. The food is not where it needs to be for the prices they charge – the tacos were $22 and the pasta $36 but we ended up not finishing it. However the outside spot is pretty cool and sometimes they have live music.

We hosted our rehearsal dinner here and they absolutely knocked it out of the park. Not only was the food amazing but the staff was great and totally took care of the entire party. They helped to create the perfect low key beach vibe we wanted for our guests. Mark was absolutely great and easy to work with. If you’re looking for great food and drinks and a truly local vibe, you can’t find a better place.

Very good food and amazing service from this place until the waiter chased us out of the restaurant, 2 couples (separate bills) our bills together were about 300$ and we left a 45$ dollar tip in cash. (Approximately 33%) we were walking out of the restaurant and he confronted us with a 20 asking if this is all we left and visibly upset, we informed we left another 25 on the table (under some stuff so not just anyone could grab it but they could see it when they clear the table, with the other 20) and the waiter said he didn’t even want our money if that was all we were going to leave. So my fiancé handed him the rest of the cash we bought (another 15). But after we left post confrontation we thought about it more, we are all 21 and visibly intoxicated, I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt but all the money was together on the table, if he could grab the one 20 he could have had the other 25 with it. Unfortunately I can only think we were scammed… again food was excellent and service from that waiter was great until that point.
