I have never had Detroit-style pizza, so this is just a review for pan crust pizza: The Calabrian was really tasty. It’s pretty expensive for the size. Not the nicest looking area, and parking can be a bit difficult. The pizzas are small but thick. One pizza is good for 2 people ($23), but I would still order again.

Definitely worth a try! I had never heard of Detroit style pizza. These pies are dense. And that’s a good thing. It’s flavorful and fills you up quickly. This is a take out place, so it’s not about the ambience. The computer at the front worked well to place a quick take out order.

As a Michigander who grew up on Detroit-style pizza before you could ever find it outside of Detroit, Rock City Pie and Ice make a delicious Detroit-style pizza. The quality of the ingredients they use are certainly a cut above what I’d usually expect from a small pizza joint, more akin to something I’d get at a fancier sit down pizzeria, and it shows in the flavor. The crust is a great balance of airiness and chew, and they nail the caramelized cheese edges that are the hallmark of this style of pizza. All in all, not much more I could want! I also appreciate the smaller cut slices! Much easier to eat that way.

Pizza is unique with lots of cheese and delicious crust. One pizza is good for 2 people. We arrived on time and only waited about 5 minutes so we were surprised the pizza wasn’t hotter, but we were able to reheat it a bit at home. The crust is very thick and airy, more like a focaccia bread. Sauce and toppings are excellent plus they include extra sauce and cheese. Salad was very good. Flavored ice was tasty, but a little expensive for what it is. The business recently expanded their space which is good to hear. Definitely try this pizza! It is takeout or delivery only.
