We had the best time here last night. The food was creative and tasty. I love the story of this place. They grow many products on their farm that they cook here. The wine list is extensive and great. Such a great vibe. Abby the bartender was great and split our dinner without even being asked to do so which made it so much easier for my husband and I to share. We will be back when we are in the area.

We were in the area and wanted to celebrate our anniversary so I made a reservation. We arrived and they sat us promptly but our server never came to our table until we asked for one. Yet, other parties that arrived after we did were attended to immediately. We missed happy hour and when I asked if we would get a discount being that it wasn’t our fault that no one took our order, the server said she would ask. We did get the discount but we learned about it when we saw the check. The server was very dismissive and not engaging at all. Not sure if this is the norm but we went there because we had seen really good reviews. Not the anniversary dinner we were expecting. The food was good. We ordered the chicken fried steak and blackened shrimp pasta and esquites.

So this farm to table restaurant in an 108-year-old ice house something so unique that’s we had to visit. Be sure to read about the history on the website.

Ronin is a delightful, quaint farm-to-table restaurant with a relaxing atmosphere and impeccable food. They source their food from local farms all around Texas (including Ronin Farm). The porch was super peaceful and there are rocking chairs and porch swings. From the moment you walk in to the moment you walk out the doors there is nothing great service.

Overpriced and underwhelming! We made reservations to kick off first Friday. The happy hour drink specials were “half-priced” spirits and cocktails. Sounds good, but the drinks were simply not very good. My margarita was so sour that I couldn’t taste the tequila or Cointreau. We ordered the cheese board with charcuterie — over $40 — the resulting product had far more board than cheese and the $8 charcuterie consisted of six, thin slices of meat — three each of salami and chorizo. The tempura veggies were okay, but nothing to rave about. All-in-all, a very poor showing that pretty much guarantees that we won’t be back.

Oh man where do I start? First, I was really excited to eat there! We sat outside on the patio, it was dirty as hell. I still was ready to cocktail and eat. Ordered the shrimp ceviche with the suggested paired cocktail. My friend asked if the Brazos water taste was included in the price! It was not so great. The suggested cocktail arrived about 15 minutes after the ceviche, which did in fact taste like the Brazos. I don’t need a server to cater to me, I go to eat with peeps I know, but honestly we begged for a check, like 4x…Boo.

Servings were small. I had shrimp and grits. There were six shrimp ..delicious but small. There was maybe 1/2 cup of grits. The grits were really bland and no seasoning on the table. $34.. pretty proud of a mediocre dish. The wait staff was VERY good. The atmosphere and restaurant was gorgeous. There’s a lot of seating space but bathrooms accommodate only one person. I waited 10 minutes.. two ladies cycled through ladies room while I waited..I checked the door handle several times to make sure I wasn’t mistaken. Turned out there was an employee in the bathroom. Not cool with a restaurant full of patrons. I won’t be back. I’m not one to leave bad reviews.. I leave honest reviews. Christopher’s World is similar in price but blows a place like Ronin away. Hence , with other options that offer a much better experience.. I have no reason to go back.

My wife’s fav. Farm to table. Imaginative menu. Select micro brews including some high end Texas brews like Jester King. Wine selection is also highly cultivated.

Summary – The food wasn’t impressive and the service was intermittent at best.

We had the chicken fried steak and the lamb! It was amazing! Our table also ordered the Bread and goat cheese plate that was wonderful. The heirloom tomato salad showcases their farm wonderfully and were the best tomatoes I’ve ever had! For desert we had peach ice cream and a watermelon soufflé that were delightful!!! The peach ice cream was refreshing and the perfect summer desert.
