You see that written on a door mat or maybe it’s said with a tight hug and loving embrace when you walk back in the door from being gone for a while. For me, it is coming back to my Roots– my hometown, my alma mater university and to my original restaurant I opened as a 22-year-old in 1996. I’ve come back home and now I’m welcoming you into my 2nd home, a 2nd time.

the food was good but i feel like it was missing something. the atmosphere is very chill and i liked the environment. also, the soft pretzels that my friend ordered had a very weird crunchy texture on the bottom of them, which made it slightly unappetizing. all love though! i will come back!

I remember when this was Scotty’s Brewhouse. While the name may have changed, the quality is just as good. I had the Fuego burger with peanut butter, and it was a bit messy, but worth every bite. It brought back a bit of nostalgia, and it felt good to be back in my hometown to enjoy a bit, and bite, of my past.

It was my first time here. I got the trippin billies burger. It was delicious. The server was top-notch she didn’t hound the table but made sure we were good and had refills on our drinks. Definitely top 5 burger places I’ve eaten at.

My wife and I stopped in on a Tuesday. The last time we visited this location, it was Scotty’s. The atmosphere was very inviting and family-friendly. Completely popcorn was served. The trash can nachos was a very large portion. My wife enjoyed her buffalo chicken salad with blue cheese crumbles! I had the Nashville hot chicken, it was good and a very large portion. We will make sure to visit more frequently and bring the entire family with us.

We dined here today, and I would rate this place as one of the best in every category. We were greeted & seated immediately & chose to dine outdoors in a roomy seating space. The menu offered many tasty options, as well as daily specials. We both ordered from the lunch menu, and our smash burgers were delicious—mine with the option of the gluten free bun. I love having that option. I opted for broccoli as a side which was cooked perfectly, and I brought that in a to go box, along with a generous portion of my husband’s leftover fries, and part of my burger. Our waiter was attentive, & well deserving of a generous tip. He refilled our drinks before we even needed refills, & promptly delivered & accepted our check—something that is lacking in service at many restaurants nowadays.

My first experience was on move in day at Ball State for my freshman. We moved her in and took her and her roommate out to eat. They chose Roots and I was amazed at how good the food tasted!!! They have a huge array of specialty burgers with every combination of toppings you can imagine! I got the Sloppy Jalopy not only because of the funny name but also the ingredients on the burger! It was amazing!! The fries were also very good. Everything was fresh and delicious. The place was VERY loud and difficult to hold a conversation w/o yelling but it was very busy. Due to the business the service was very slow but our server did a great job! Will be back for sure!
