They have some nice dishes such as fried chicken wings, black pepper beef, chilli crab and kangkung belacan. Their char kway teow was quite bland. Also, They need to take care of the cleanliness of their restaurant and food standard. We found a dead spider in our soup!!!

Unique seafood place. Get the clams, surf clams and the special lobster or crab with spicy tomato sauce.

Great place if you wanted to try dinner Chinese food. My office is right next to this place and I tried it for the first time. I got the scallop with garlic sauce and some spring rolls. The food was amazing. The brown rice was plain and didn’t have any taste. It was empty at around 2pm. Customer service was great and it’s in a great location. They have outdoor dining but it’s closed for the season I guess. One star less is because of the person who was serving my food was coughing and sneezing and also was not wearing masks. I don’t care if you wear masks or not but at least wear a mask if you have a flu during this covid time. I had to rush eating my food and leave the place. Hope my next visit will be better.

The restaurant is totally run down. They increased prices recently, however they can’t even print new menus. Therefore, when you order, be prepared to pay a couple of dollars more than you saw in the menu. Food itself lacks of any spices and flavor. I had seafood tom yum and hardly finished it. Not sure how this place earned almost 4 star rating…

Royal East Restaurant in Cambridge serves Malaysian cuisine with some Cantonese mainstays that were part of the original menu from years back. Back in spring 2022, a large group of 22 people dined at Royal East for $75 each which included taxes and tips. There is no surcharge for the room reserved. On the evening we had dinner, the restaurant was at 20% capacity. The women’s bathroom has two stalls of which one had an out-of-order sign.

The service was good, the food was not. Out of our party of three, the duck dish was the only one that was any good. I got the minced beef and scrambled egg gravy which was the blandest gravy I have had in a long time. There was not much egg in it and the beef was not seasoned well. It was edible, but not enjoyable. Our other party member got a seafood dish that was practically inedible. The seafood was overcooked, bland and just overall unappetizing. In an area with many different options for good Chinese and Asian Fusion food, I probably won’t be going back here.

If you are eating in the restaurant, they will give you an old menu which does not have updated price. They just let you know every dish will cost $1-$3 more than the price you see on the menu.

The food was great. I dropped by several times before as I am in the area, but I have never left the comment. It’s a nice looking place, yet affordable. I was having stomachache a few days ago and they accommodated my preference so well. (It’s not a busy time, so I don’t know if it would be different other time.)
