Royal Rib has been a staple in the Bedford Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, New York for over 60 years. We are an American Barbecue/Soul Food restaurant that has serviced the public for generations. It all began when my grandfather; apa Calvin landed here in NYC fresh off of the farms from the Carolinas (North and South.) He was immediately known for his savory aromas that filled the ir in the backstreets of Stuyvesant Heights. He created a sauce to pair with his rotisserie style ribs and chicken. People would line up with jars and containers to be filled with our signature Calvin’s Royal Rib House BBQ Sauce. Eyes On Bed-Stuy
The beef ribs were cooked to perfection… the meat comes off the bone with little resistance, and the hot option is the perfect kick of heat. The cabbage and rice and peas were also prepared to just the right consistency – nothing mushy here and packed with flavor. Not overly salty. The dinner plate is a good size – I was able to tackle half and I’m definitely looking forward to the other half for later… The corn bread is also good – a little bit more on the crumbley side but not dry. Overall a tasty experience!

I can’t get over how good this KBBQ was. The marbling and quality of the beef was superb! They weren’t kidding when they said that they serve Omaha Prime aged beef ribs. The side dishes were very good and they use all sorts of vibrant colors for their thinly sliced radish, it was beautiful! I’ve never been to an upscale Korean restaurant but this was has forever changed my mind!

Brought my parents here who were visiting from out of town and they can’t stop talking about how amazing the barbecue ribs and chicken were. The Mac and cheese and collard greens are my favorite. The owner takes so much care and time with all of the food and you can taste it. I’ll definitely be back here often, so glad it’s in the neighborhood

The staff is amazing, attentive and very hospitable. Kept me informed of my order status, which was very nice because a lot of places you go to your just standing around waiting with no clue on the status of your order. Also, the person who took my order ensured line by line that every item ordered was packed in the Togo bag before leaving the store. A lot of times you leave a place all to find out they forgot a portion of your order. But not here, and that made me happy also knowing I had a big order.

Ridiculously long lines, the wait time was over an 1hr 20 min in addition to the food being inconsistent….. I’ve eaten from here twice the first time everything was really good. The second time I ordered the same thing as my first order which was: ribs, greens, black-eyed peas, macaroni and cheese, the blueberry cornbread and peach cobbler. With my last order, I was extremely disappointed because the food tasted sour and didn’t taste fresh. The people at the counter do the best that they can with taking the orders however, their system needs updating and their method of pushing out the food requires some re-organization.
