The other day I ordered, Roy’s Fish Fry, for lunch. I ordered their 2pc Whiting w/ String Beans and a side of Mac n Cheese. The lady who took my order was really nice, and she also threw in another piece of fish. The fish was ok in flavor, they were just really small in size. I was extremely disappointed in the string beans due to them being really salty. Could barely finish them. The Mac n Cheese greatly impacts my total score. Not that it was the best Mac or anything, just that it actually had pretty good flavor and texture. The cheeses maybe could’ve been blended a little better, but I enjoyed the Mac n Cheese. All in all, I don’t think I’d try this place again. But if you’re in the Newark area, and looking for some quick seafood, try out, Roy’s Fish Fry.

Just went here for the first time while in Newark to buy something unrelated. Decided to Google “Fried Fish”. Went here and ordered fish, scallops, shrimp, collard greens, hot wings, and carrot cake. We just finished everything and enjoyed it all. Nothing was over fried or tough. Everything tasted fresh. I really loved the greens. We don’t get to buy good soul food where we live. This will be our regular spot.

Spend $65 in uber eats. I’m from NYC let’s just say this ain’t no soul food at all. Collard greens had NO SEASONING! I ordered catfish they sent me whiting and it wasn’t even seasoned. Forgot my potatoe salad and didn’t even send me the jerk chicken sandwich I ordered sent jerk chicken in a little tray I completely wasted $65 also they don’t even cut they collard greens see photos. Don’t even waste your time . Wings sucked too I’m pregnant and I feel like CRYING I can’t believe you guys would even sell this stuff should be a crime took one bite of everything and threw it in the garbage ordered uber eats 6/12/22 .

My parents said they heard the food was good here. I’m a foodie, so I try it and buy for the family. These great reviews must be from the staff or people in the city who only eat Chinese food so, of course the food here is amazing to them. The yams have to have to much cinnamon. Why is there cinnamon in yams anyway? The fish is oily and small AF. If you want delicious fish go to The Stake N Take truck in Bergen St. across from the hospital. The greens are very salty. They have no idea how to make hush puppies. The girl at the cash register with the unhappy disposition said they buy the sweet potato pie. I’m one and DONE. Everyone I know trusts my taste buds. I would NOT recommend this place, if you want really really good food. My parents said, “I wouldn’t eat here again.” My little sister says, “mediocre at best.”

The girl taking my order on the phone was super nice and personable. She reminded me of the location I called before we hung up. My food was literally ready in the 10 mins she told me. I got whiting, collards, potato salad, cornbread and the strawberry cheese cake. Everything was great except the potato salad. The potato salad was okay and I wish the cornbread was a little bigger.

The whiting fish is horrible. Greasy with absolutely no seasoning and no taste. The fish are tiny and have a nerve to charge $32 for 15 pieces. I would never go to this place again and do not recommend this place.

My first time. Friendly Service. I had fried fish coleslaw and fries. It was delicious. Seasoned well, fresh, not greasy. The way fish used to taste back in the day. I already knew this would be my new fist spot. However, the kudos I want to give them is for their honesty and humanity. I left my shades there. Designer shades. Never thought when I called the next day I would get good news. I did. I really appreciate their honesty. So happy to have my favorite shades back
