My wife and I were celebrating our honeymoon when we ate at Roy’s. Our server’s name was Lurch, and he was absolutely amazing. He kindly answered all of our questions about the local food and drinks since we are unfamiliar with the local cuisine. We got the Poke nachos as an appetizer and they were delicious. I ended up getting the macadamia nut crusted fish and my wife got the scallops. Both were absolutely fantastic. The presentation and taste of both plates was undescribably delicious. Then our server, Lurch, brought out a surprise desert to help us celebrate. The desert was a molten lava cake with fresh vanilla ice-cream. We cannot even begin to describe how amazing the desert was. All in all our experience at Roy’s was one of a kind and we will look back on it for years to come and remember how great it was.

This was overall a good mean. The food was tasty and we had a great view looking out over the water.

$53 for a little bit of short ribs and 3 shrimp (see picture). Not a good value at all, quality of food overall was average, the potatoes were the only saving grace. I would not come back here based on the prices and quality of food. There are other options around this area that are better.

Our family of four enjoyed a sunset meal at this wonderful restaurant. We made reservations on a Wednesday evening. The atmosphere was intentional with a nice mix of energy and sophistication. Our server, Braxton, provided thoughtful service being attentive to the gluten sensitivity. We chose the Mixed Grill, Blackened Ahi, Miso Butterfish and Opakapaka. The food was well prepared, plates visually appealing and portions were satisfying. The signature dishes held up to their fame. Pricing set the stage for a celebratory dinner. Certainly, would return when in the area again.

Food at Roy’s is excellent especially the fish dishes. I had an almond crusted whitefish which was perfectly cooked and served with a wonderful sauce that complemented the fish. Service was friendly, warm and accommodating. While they don’t have vegetarian options on the formal menu, they’re able to accommodate beautifully. For example, they can prepare tofu in the style of the fish on the menu (also delicious and presented beautifully). When I come back to Kona, I’ll definitely come back to Roy’s.

I was so excited to celebrate our 26th wedding Anniversary at Roy’s. We made reservations weeks in advance from home. The atmosphere was like a cafeteria. Not like the other Roy’s in Maui or Los Vegas. I wanted macadamia encrusted fish (I have ordered it many time at Kimo’s in Maui, which is excellent.) The fish was so dry and the nuts nearly burnt I sent it back. I got the surf and turf as a replacement.

Had a great experience for the New Year’s Eve dinner at Roy’s. Food was great as always and the setting of the restaurant is pretty next to the pond. Roy’s is always more expensive than other nice restaurants in any area but we come for the consistency when we are expecting a good time.

So disappointing. Every dish was overly sauced. My wife’s fish was lukewarm and undercooked (we sent it back). My Ahi was cold and chewy with an overwhelming amount of heavy sauce. Service was inattentive and the server didn’t knownthe menu (an appetizer wrapped in paper when he meant thin rice noodle!). The scallops had crab meat that had such intense seasoning it could have been bread crumbs.
