My favorite breakfast place in Decorah. The cinnamon and caramel pecan rolls are huge. They have a wide variety of breakfast specialties in addition to the menu. I definitely enjoyed the rommegrot. Plus you can take baked goods home, including Scandinavian specialties like rosettes and Norwegian rye bread, and homemade jams and sotsuppe. Yum!

Delicious food, good conversation, check on hours before going as the owner mentioned she was close to retirement and would be reducing hours. Lingonberry pancakes were great, chicken fried steak was the best I have had outside of Texas and the cinnamon roll was bigger than Luke’s head.

Great breakfast! Loved the place. Found it on a camping trip to the area.

Ruby’s was amazing for breakfast this morning. It was a snowy morning and downtown was very quiet. We walked in and immediately felt welcome. We were happy for the snow otherwise this place would have been packed, and we might not have stopped. Amazing service, food and personality. I will be returning. Homemade bread and gluten free options. My wife was able to get a GF English muffin.

We have eaten breakfast here twice now. Disappointing each time. The coffee is lukewarm and nearly flavorless. The food is pricey for the quality. I don’t mind spending money on good food, but that’s not what we ate here. We get better tasting food, and better service at family table for half the cost. Ruby’s also charges $1.50 to pay with a card. Their baked breads and cinnamon rolls are the only reason I’d go back.

Excellent authentic Norweigan food and comfort food. Best cinnamon rolls, ever!

Went to the restaurant on a Sunday morning around 11:20am. We were warned that the kitchen was running behind schedule, and ordered anyway. The staff was courteous to let us know it would be a while. After waiting about 35 minutes, we received our food. It was delicious, and it was reasonably priced. If the restaurant wasn’t so slow, I would go back again next time I am in Decorah.

We had a lovely breakfast at Ruby’s on Sunday morning. There were many tasty choices, and the service was excellent. Jo spoke with passion about her raspberry preserves. Why haven’t we been going here more often? We will now!

We went for breakfast on Sunday morning. The experience was just OK. Initially, our waitress forgot about us – she delivered our menus but didn’t come back with our coffee until we asked another waitress to track her down (several other tables had been served that sat down after us). The coffee was completely flavorless once we finally got it. I ordered a veggie omelette, which was also OK – the main reason for this choice was everything else was SO expensive on the menu. Almost $12 for two eggs, hashbrowns, meat and toast! If you decide to visit, bring cash/check as they charge $1.50 to use a card.

Food was good and the hostess was a trip! Our party of 4 all had breakfast items. Food was freshly prepared and was piping hot. Personally thought my breakfast special (peach stuffed french toast) was a little pricey, but it was delicious. My wife had the Mexican omelet and she said it was OK. Pancakes were good. Ordered pop for my drink…$2.50 for a 12 oz. can.
