Service is fine. However, the food has changed over the years. Some of Russ’ signature stuff isn’t even available. It is sad. Since I was quite young, I found that some of patrons (a few, not all), within the restaurant – locals, would fix a gaze on me or my (since passed) family and stare at me (us) throughout our entire meal – never averting the seemingly hateful and judgmental stare. I am a Holland native as was my father. What makes weirdos do this? They didn’t know us at all – complete strangers. I quit going there, decades ago, even though my folks (when they were living) put up with it! Usually, lonely and unhappy pious customers, such as these are truly sad people. Still, why did it always happen, for the most part, at Russ’? What did they know about me? NOTHING! Since they were older folks, I’m guessing they have passed by now. I later decided to get salads to go, since the dressing and croutons were so good! However, I’ve since learned that those items aren’t available any longer. I was dieting, for some years, so I really don’t know. I had a “friend” who loves to exaggerate and lie about random things, tell me this. I miss the croutons and blue cheese dressing but otherwise, forget it. You TRULY cannot beat their pies! They are GREAT! I don’t get them because I have to watch my blood sugar now. I truly hope that Russ’ is still as good as it once was (sans the hostile, relentless staring weirdos)!

We came lot, they seated us promptly. Quick service and large portions. They make a very good rueben. Beautifully thin meat and very tasty. The apple pie and chocolate straberry cheesecake were scrumptious. I would definitely recommend and go again.

Good solid family place. Good basic meals and lots of home style choices. Nice area to sit outside with enough trees around to muffle the noise of the traffic. Nothin fancy but your whole family will feel safe and loved here and if they leave hungry, it’s their own fault!

I love your broccoli and cheese soup, the only problem have that lately the broccoli piece are way to big. Who ever prepares the broccoli pieces for the soup should cut the pieces in half and the stems shorter. Most stems are touch to chew. That why I give 2 stars

What a joke. We were seated, given a carafe of coffee, order taken and then sat there for 25 minutes (or more). There was no rush, no line and several empty tables. No one came to our table for the entire 25 minutes. After not being able to flag down any waitstaff, I politely asked the front manager what was going on and received a half hearted shrug of his shoulders. We promptly left and said thank you for the free coffee.

Good local restaurant. Servers are friendly and accurate. The decor is a bit dated, but the restaurant is clean and tidy. The frying oil made the fries pretty dark, but otherwise the food was tasty and inexpensive. Of note, the recipes are salted well and not oversalted like many national chains.

I don’t know how this place gets over a 4 star rating. The meatloaf tastes like stuffing (you get one tiny piece), they gave me the wrong side.. I ordered mac and cheese (which is exactly what the receipt said so not sure how they messed that up. Reading is fundamental).. but what I got was.. I honestly don’t even know. Some orange mush that tasted like grass (maybe squash?). The reuben doesnt have any dressing. It was just meat, cheese and kraut. The broccoli soup was good, though. Overall, would not recommend.

We are here on vacation from Florida, where we have no Russ’s. We decided to meet family there. The fried chicken was as good as I remembered from 20 years ago, and so was the hot apple dumpling….Yum!!!

Meal was ok, not bad, but not exceptional, either. The dessert was disappointing. My wife was looking forward to th lemonade pie. $6.00 for a small thin piece that was smeared on the plate.
