I nothing but GREAT things to say about Ruthie’s! It’s hands down my FAVORITE Mexican restaurant in Houston. The service is impeccable, I have grown very fond of Dulce I’m always happy to see her smiling face! We make it in at least 3 times a month! The Chimichanga is my favorite dish The Margarita’s are awesome ( I always get the Mango Margarita with Chamoy AND Tajin). As long as they’re open I’ll be there!

I had a great meal experience with ordering and eating. The price is fair for the amount of food and food taste fresh and hot. I ordered crispy and soft tacos, they came with rice and beans. I ordered fries and a flauta a la carte. They added a side of chips and salsa to the order. I had enough to share with my family. It was delicious to each of us.

It was super packed, which wasn’t a problem. My guest and I sat at the bar, bar staff immediately made eye contact with us but never acknowledged us. 5 minutes later, a couple sits down at the bar, bar staff approached and asked for their drink order. That couple had to tell the bar staff we were waiting first. The same happened with food orders. Our order took 45 minutes to come out, everyone around us was wrapping up their meal by the time we got ours. They blamed the excessive wait on “the marinade.” I had simple beef enchiladas, they were very good but not good enough for me to revisit this establishment. We had to ask the bar staff 4 times for our ticket, at that point the crowd had thinned out and there was no reason to delay. Oddly enough, before we went in the restaurant, a lady leaving with to-go food tried to warn us. She said after waiting 30 minutes for a table, she ordered food to-go from the bar. Said the service was horrible, but we decided to give it a try anyway. Never again

My husband and our family tried this restaurant for Fathers Day. The place was empty and no one really seemed to care we were there. The AC was not on but was turned on upon request of my MIL. The food was bland and the portions were small. The owner is a Blue Angel and had flags and pictures. We really enjoyed that.

Finally got to check out Ruthie’s. Went at 5:30 on Saturday hoping we’d get there before the busier time. About half full with a good crowd at the bar watching the Astros. Ordered Banderas platter and my husband had chicken enchiladas. Didn’t feel like drinks so just got water which tasted straight from the tap with a slice of lemon which helped to cover the tap water flavor. The food was good and served quickly and hot. My platter included carnitas which was really REALLY tasty. Rest of the meal was good but nothing extraordinary. Next time I’ll try the fabled fajitas and hope it meets the reviews others gave reported. All in all a decent basic texmex experience and happy to have them in the neighborhood!
